Waterloo 0 Millstreet Celtic 2

Report by Tim Kiely – We beat Waterloo 2-0 away from home in Rathduff this afternoon at 2pm. The game was a bit scrappy for the first 15 mins with neither side creating much. We started to take hold of the game then though and had a good chance through Tadhg Collins which went just wide. After 25 mins we got the breakthrough when Barry Lawlor was fouled in the box. Tim Kiely stepped up and slotted home for 1-0. We created a lot of chances after that but Collins, Chris Cleary and Michael Murphy were all off target for good positions. Just before half time Lawlor hit the post so we somehow went in at half time just a goal to the good. The 2nd half continued in the same vein and we made it 2-0 after 65 mins. John Lehane was fouled on the edge of the area and Collins fired the resulting free into the bottom corner. We should have added a couple more before the finish but it ended 2-0 and a good 3 points in the bag. Best for us on the day were Danny O Riordan, John Lehane and Trevor O Connor.

  1. Really good 3 points. The league looks interesting. Definitely looking good for a competitive 2nd half of the season.
