The long awaited documentery on the Bearra Way and Donal Cam O Sullivan was very well received on RTE 1 on Sunday evening at 6.30. Both Sean Radley and I were delighted that Millstreet got such fine coverage. And those who missed it can log in to RTE’s website,enter the title and it can be viewed anytime..

Millstreet is taking a well earned break following our highly successful Gathering Festival, and there’s a note here from Veronica Perdistat as follows-

Millstreet Development’s Gathering Committee would like to thank everyone who supported the recent Summer Festival.

We were blessed with good weather and very appreciative of the help and assistance from across the community.

It really was a Community Gathering for both young and old and we hope that our families, friends and visitors enjoyed the four days of events.

We would also like to take this opportunity to wish the other communities in the Duhallow region who are hosting events that they also have a safe and successful celebration. I have a poster from Boherbue to say that they are holding their Gathering Festival in August from the 2nd to the 4th. with a wide range of events to pack every moment. Please look up their posters and get ready to help or join in. 

The next meeting of our childrens Book Club at our Library, will be Saturday July 20th from 12 noon to 1pm. New Members welcome.

Our Gramaphone Circle with hold their next meeting this Friday night July 15th. at the Canon O Donovan Centre starting at 8.15. Presenter the popular Con Kelleher. Cloghoulabeg. All welcome

Church gate collection in aid of Millstreet Hospital will be held at Ballydaly and Cullen this weekend.

Annual Vintage afternoon and Laitiaran Day will be held in Cullen this Sunday July 21st with all the usual attractions plus Richie Cavannagh with live music.

Proceeds as always in aid of their Special Needs Association. Please support it well.

The Tidy Towns effort goes on And the Committee would like to say a million thanks to all those who helped to make the place look so beautiful for the Festival. Please continue to keep up the good work. Clean outside your own place or water the flowers near you, and it would be a great help .

Dromtarriffe ICA Trip to TJ Murphys Garden in Bandon on Thursday July 25th, Contact Mary @ 78117.

Station Mass will be held at the home of Domnic and Catherine Cronin this Friday night for Liscahane, Mount Leader and Geararoe, Starts at 8.30.

Pitch ‘n Putt. The Aiden Burke Memoriel Cup which was on last night continues again tonight and to-morrow night at 7.

Those who played last week don’t need to play again.

Presentation of prizes will now take place at the GAA Hall on Saturday July 20th.

And please take note that their church gate collection takes place this weekend.

Don’t forget the Summer seisuns at Brook na Carraige in Rockchapel every Tuesday night, including a lovely cup of tea at the break.

And the annual Sliabh Luachra Summer Camp began there on July 15th to 26th. Contact 087 2205566 For details.

Music in the pub in Carriginma this Friday night is by the well know Jerry McCarthy and Autumn Gold.

Also open-air dancing on August 4th Music by Peter Lane.

Special notice to say that the Prize-winning Gardens of Gertie and Maurice O Donoghue, Dromboy, Carrignavar are open to the public on Saturday and Sunday July 20/21st from 2 to 6pm. It will be well signposted on the Mallow Road at Rathduff and from Carrignavar Village. Proceeds to Marymount Hospice.

The AGM of IRD Duhallow will be held at the James o Keeffe Institute on Wednesday ,July 24th, starting at 8.

Our Summer Horse Show will be held at the Green Glens from August 13to 18th, with a total prize fund of over €180,000.

Our Fabulous Country Park has a whole lots of new things to offer this season.If youd like to cycle around the Park,they have bikes at the ready. They also have fun and games for the children .Look up their Website for all the details. Or give them a ring at 029 70810.

Millstreet defeated Kilbrin in the Duhallow Junior A Football Championship in Rathcoole last evening.

The Millstreet Summer Camp is on this week.

On Sunday, Millstreet Town Park host Knocknagree and Castlemagner in the Duhallow Junior A Football Championship at 7pm.

Here are the results of this weeks parish lotto draw which was held at Corkerys Bar on Sunday night Numbers drawn were 3, 4, 14, 30 and the Jackpot was not won .

€100 went to Kevin O Connor,Rathrue, the Seller was Reens and they got €50 sellers prize, €50 went to Joan Cremin, Drishane View,

€20 each to Tadg Mc Sweeney, Carriginma, Siobhan Curtin, Kilcorney , Maureen Collins Dromina, Denis Sinead & Donagh Corkery, Shanaknuck, Mary & Jason Keane Tanyard,

Colm Curtin Drishane Rd. Con Dennehy, Curragh, John and Pat Randals, Minor Row, Jackpot for next week €2,200 the draw at the Mal Passo Bar on Sunday night.
