Eily’s Report – 14th February

The monthly meeting of the Community Council will be held at the Wallis Arms Hotel tonight starting at 9 and all members please attend.

 

The AGM of the Millstreet Golf Society will be held at the Bridge Bar on Thursday night February 16th starting at 9.30.

 

The Millstreet Gramophone Circle will meet at the Canon O Donovan Centre this Friday night February 17th starting at 8.15,  Presenter is Margaret Moynihan, Killarney Rd.  All are welcome.

 

The AGM of the Millstreet and District Housing Association will be held  tomorrow Wednesday night at the Centre starting at 8pm and all are welcome.

 

We have a sincere word of thanks from the Canon O Donovan Centre, to all those who supported their recent Church Gate Collection.

The Cullen Special Needs Association continued their weekly WeighIn on Monday night.

The  weekly Jiving lessons at this event has proved very popular, with large crowds arriving every week to take part., and new arrivals still welcome.

This week 45 people weighed In and 49 pounds weight was lost. And Myra reminds me that there are only four nights left.

 

The first Equestrian Event at the Green Glens /Drishane Complex, will be the FEI European Eventing Championships For young Riders and Juniors  July 19- 23rd.

 

Here are the results of this weeks parish Lotto Draw which was held at the Clara Inn on Sunday night. Numbers drawn were, 16, 18, 21, 28 and the Jackpot was not won.

€100 went to Spider Rico, Millstreet. The seller was Reens Pharmacy and they got €50 sellers prize. €50 went to G O Keeffe, Banteer, €20 each went to Padraig Murphy, Cloghoulabeg. Maura and Eimer, Dooneen. Pat O Connor, Coolikerane, Karen Stanley, Kilmeedy,  Susan Murphy, Ballydaly, Tampo, c/o Michelle Whelan,  Twomey Family, Station Rd,Ciara Creedon Aubane. Jackpot for next week €9,000 the draw at the Wallis Arms Hotel on Sunday night.

 

The Bad weather is no excuse for littering our town and approach roads. Please take care and keep our places litter free.

The open hours at our Recycling Centre are, Monday. to Thursday 9-4.30  Sat. 9-1.

 

Please remember that there are many indoor interests to pass away these dull damp days. The Canon O Donovan Centre has beautiful dinners every day for both residents day trippers and casuals. Just give them a ring and put your name in the pot and enjoy a lovely mid day meal plus company and comfort.

They also have singing, and other past times and a 45Drive every Tuesday night .

 

Our Adult Gym is open at the Youth Centre and both young and not so young  go there to get their exercise  when its too wet to walk in the Park.

The Library is open also at the Carnegie Hall. And our wonderful Museum which is open at certain hours or by appointment. Last week the well known fiddle player Matt Cranitch and his lovely wife Liz paid a visit and were very pleased with all that the Museum and indeed Millstreet itself, has to offer.

 

And ring Marie for details of all the courses and classes that are available at the Adult Learning Centre, on the Main St.

The Knitting Club is open every Tuesday night at the Adult Learning Centre from 7-9

Church Choir Practice every Wed. night from 8pm

Community Singers every Thursday night from 7.30 to 9 both at the Parish Centre. New members always welcome.

 

There is dancing in Aubane every Monday night .  Cards in Ballydaly on Sunday nights .The list goes on.

Log on to Sean Radleys Cork Music Station every Tuesday night at 9.30.

We have some nice cafes where you can drop in for a cuppa with a friend or make a new one there.

For those who like to spend a little time with God the it Eucharistic Adoration all day every Tuesday and Wednesday in the comfort of the Adoration Chapel in Millstreet, and in Cullens Lovely church on Thursdays from 10am.

Confessions in Millstreet every Saturday from 12.30 to 1.

Above all do not feel left out or alone.
