Fondest greetings dear listeners and I wish you all the very best on this rather wet but mild and calm Tuesday morning.

Now that the Christmas Season is over, the proceeds of the many fundraising events that were held around  the Festive Season are being presented  to the causes for which they were held.

The proceeds of the Christmas Day Climb of Mushera will be presented to the St. John’s Well Committee at a pleasant Function in Aubane.

Also this week  the proceeds of the Boeing swim of the Blackwater ,will be  presented to a representative of Multiple Sclerosis Society of Ireland ,North Cork Branch at the Bush Bar at 7 pm. Pat Buck providing the Music.

Further to those, the Dromtarriffe Parents and Friends of Cope will present the proceeds of their 24hr fast to Mr John Clifford of Cope.

Funnily enough all of these events take place on this Thursday night.

 

The first day of our newly formed Mens shed was an outstanding success.

Located in a little house at the bottom of Pound Hill in the town, it will be a regular meeting place for the boys of all ages, creeds and colours. It is open twice every Tuesday, from 10 until 1 in the morning and from 7 on in the evening. There are Mens sheds opening up in many parts of the  country , they are a non-drinking club so there is no problem about driving home , but they do have a separate smoking area .So lads do feel free to come along.

They are losing it fast in Cullen. At last nights Weigh-In 115 people  Weighed in and 336 pounds weight was lost . More of the same next Monday night. The Weighing is started  by Aerobics at eight and followed Music.

And the people of Cullen would like to point out that their community defibulator is placed on the side wall of Hickey’s Communications office unit. Access to the code is at the church and other places of business nearby.

Defibulators in Millstreet Town are at the door of our Garda Station and the entrance to our Youth Centre. The public are advised to familiarise themselves with these details.

Duhallow Region IFA Public Meeting This Thursday January 26th at 8.30 at the Wallis Arms Hotel. Speakers will include Mr John Byran President of IFA.and Noreen O Rahilly Teagasc. All are welcome.

 Our Community Council Annual Awards Social will be held at the Wallis Arms Hotel on Friday March 2nd.

It’s Panto time in Rathmore. This time the Marian Players are staging Cinderella and they open this weekend, On Saturday January 28th at 8.30.

Followed by Matinee on Sunday 29th at 2.45. Then its on Wednesday, Thursday & Saturday of  next week, ending with a Matinee on Sunday February 5th.at 2.45.

On this Saturday the Lord Mayor of Cork City. Mr Terry Shannon, is hosting a TEA dance at City Hall  from 3 to 6 o clock. and  inviting people of all ages to come, it is part of an effort to break down the barriers that exist between the young and the not so young. Tickets at €6 each can be bought at Pro Musica.

 

The great Brendan Begley will be in Concert at Ionad Cultura this Friday night, February 3 rd. along with Louise Kelly and Tommy Peoples. A show not to be missed. Starts at 8.30 .To book your tickets ring 026 457 33.

 

Program 199 of LTV2 is on its way to you this Thursday night at 10 and repeated on Sunday Night at 8. All LTV programs start on Sunday evenings at 5.  Our  Program number 200 will be recorded at the Pub in Carriginma on Monday night next and all are welcome.

Church Gate collection in aid of LTV2 will be held in Millstreet and Ballydaly on the weekend of February 11/12.

 

The thrift shop in Millstreet is now accepting clothes for recycling, all proceeds to our Day Care Centre. Please support it well.

 Many congratulations to Desmond Casey on coming 6th over all in the Munster Cross Country Championships which were held in Beaufort recently in very rough conditions .

Millstreet overcame Donouughmore in the opening round to the Glenville U21 Football Tournament.

 

 

The Duhallow senior Scór Final go ahead in Kanturk Golf Club on this Friday night, at 8.30pm

Here are the results of this week’s parish lotto draw which was held at the Wallis Arms Hotel on Sunday night.
