Mossie Scannell – 4th Anniversary

This post is to mark dads, Mossie Scannell’s 4th anniversary tomorrow, 13th August. No mass this year, I know you won’t mind dad. We can hear you say ‘Era ya’

Four years have passed — and still, it stings,
Grief dances with time in silent swings.
I find myself caught in a strange in-between,
Of missing your presence and all that has been.

Jealous of the ones who get to be near,
Who sit in your light, who feel you so clear.
It doesn’t feel fair — they don’t even know
The depth of your heart, the warmth of your glow.

But still, I’m grateful — for the new souls you find,
Who now get to witness your laughter, your mind.
They’ll love you, I know it — how could they not?
You’re the kind of person no one forgot.

Jealous of those who now get to laugh
At your dry little jokes, your signature craft.
But grateful you’re laughing, wherever you roam,
That heaven, or somewhere, has now become home.

Jealous of those who get to see you today,
In whatever soft light you’ve become far away.
But grateful, so grateful — you’re not on your own,
Surrounded by love, even though you’re gone.

So here I stand, heart split in two —
Jealous and grateful, all because of you.
Four years have passed, but you still remain
A part of our joy, our love, and our pain.

Accommodation Needed in Millstreet

We are a beauty salon in Millstreet “Beauty lab” and we are looking for accommodation for our employee — a female hairdresser with her 7-year-old child.
The accommodation should be within Millstreet town (as there is no car available). We are looking for a long-term rental and are ready to pay regularly and live there for a long time.
If you know of any available houses or apartments that match our needs, please contact us.
Thank you in advance for your help.
Kind regards,

Eily’s Report – 12th August

Dia is mhuire díobh go léir a Cáirde and welcome to my Report.

A minute’s silence was observed at the lotto draw on Sunday night in honour of founder member, Jerry Lehane. Jerry was taken from us very fast and the shock has left us in a daze and feeling of numbness, a feeling of emptiness. He was quiet spoken, and didn’t go for glory, but he touched every part of our community. Jerry was omnipresent, you’d always see him, and you thought you’d  be seeing him for the rest of your life. He was a member or supporter of everything that was of Millstreet. Not least among them the historic  monument in our Town Square. He guarded it feverishly. Decorated it for historic occasions and woe betide anybody who dared interfere with it.  He was so proud of Ballydaly.  His Chapel on the hill. He always made sure that it looked newly painted and smart. Jerry was a friend to many and I know one or two who will be broken hearted without his daily newsy chat. No words on mine could do justice to what Jerry Lehane meant to our community, as I said we thought we would be seeing him for ever.  It won’t be easy to continue normal life without him but we have to and that is what Jerry Lehane would want us to do.  We offer our sincere sympathy to  his lovely wife Marie and her family and pray that God will help them to cope with the terrible loss of their beloved Jerry.  May the Good Lord grant him Eternal Rest and give him the best seat in Heaven.
