The Late Eileen Cronin of Pound Hill and Killowen (28th Anniversary)

Today we Remember the Late Eileen Cronin of Pound Hill and Killowen who went to her Eternal Reward on this Day November 16th 1992,Eileen is dearly missed her Brother Garry and Sister in Law Bridie along with Family and Friends, May Eileen RIP.

This Remembrance was brought to our Attention by Pat Sullivan,(Eileen`s Nephew)

A few words from the Bishop on the current situation in relation to return to Mass.

As Congregations return to Church this week,

please return slowly and be understanding.

 

A warm welcome to all those who join us for Holy Mass this first week and weekend. It is a joy to have the return of congregations. The delight of so many, is an indicator that it is vital to nourish the spirit and the soul, as well as the body. We do not face the world on our own, God is there with us.

There is upset and disappointment that large churches are restricted to a congregation of 50 people. The hope is that before the end of the month this will change to 100, in churches where social distancing can be maintained. If only 50 can be present, then let that fifty pray and offer Mass on behalf of the whole parish community.

The 50 persons limit for indoor gatherings does bring home to us, the fact that we must take personal and communal responsibility to follow Public Health Guidelines. This is a vital realisation. We owe it to all the front-line workers who have been so brave and selfless. Only thus, can we hope to keep the virus suppressed in our communities.

Because of the restriction to 50, we ask people to be understanding and, if possible, to come to Mass in church during the weekdays rather than on these first few weekends. Let a weekday Mass be your Sunday worship, at least for the next few weeks.

Our Lady, health of the sick, pray for us.

Orange Lodge

When we think of the Orange Order, you could be forgiven of thinking of July in Northern Ireland, but an article in Saturdays Evening Echo outlines an upcoming talk about the history of Orange Lodges in Cork, including one in Millstreet:

“…Orange lodges were present in Cork from 1797 and at its absolute peak there were 44 separate lodges in Cork, involving thousands and thousands of men,” Mr Dougan told the Evening Echo. “The main centres were in Bandon and Cork city. There were eight orange lodges in the city alone …… While the city had a particularly strong community, Orange lodges reached all parts of the county — with lodges in Fermoy, Mitchelstown, Youghal, Kinsale, Clonakilty, Charleville, Millstreet and Bantry, to name but a few” … read the full article

Very Impressive Corpus Christi Procession 2014 in Millstreet on Sunday

On Sunday, 22nd June 2014 after 11.30 a.m. Mass at St. Patrick's Church the Annual Corpus Christi Procession proceeded through the town to the specially constructed Outdoor Altar in The Square where Benediction was celebrated before the Procession returned to the Church. A request for families to host retreat team in Millstreet

A retreat for 1st and 2nd year pupils from Millstreet Community School will take place on Tuesday 18th March 2014 upstairs in the Parish Centre Millstreet, beginning at 9am.

The day will be led by the National Evangelisation Team (NET) Ministries which is a non-profit, Catholic Youth Ministry.  Over the last number of years they have run retreats in a number of schools in Kerry Diocese and this will be the sixth year they’ll have been in Millstreet.

The NET team consists of 10 members: 6 girls, 4 boys, ranging from the ages of 18 to 25. This team of young adults spend a year away from their own families in USA and Canada to share their faith with the young people of Ireland.

We are looking for families to put up the team members in pairs during their time in Millstreet for one night: Monday 17th March, from 7pm.  Families willing to do so are asked to provide a simple meal and a place to sleep, which does NOT necessarily have to be a bed.  The team members have their own sleeping bag and pillow and are flexible with where they sleep for the night, be it floors, couches, or air mattresses. They’ll need to be a parish centre on 18th March by about 8/8.10am the next morning to get ready for their busy day.

They are not expecting to be waited on, but are rather geared towards spending time with the family and adapting to your normal routine.
