Vintage Car & Motorcycle Run in Matthew’s Memory
James Healy of Watergrasshill and of Curracahill, Millstreet shares the following: “As you may be aware my 6 year old little boy Matthew was killed on the 9th of February 2024. This last year has been an incredibly hard time and I will remain forever heartbroken as a result of Matthew’s death, the support of good family, friends, colleagues and even strangers has helped me through it. Thankfully myself and Matthew did have a wonderful 6 years together, for which I will be forever grateful, Matthew was an intelligent, articulate, funny and socially conscious little lad, he was an absolute pleasure to be with, and it was the greatest honor and privilege of my life to have been his dad.
The loss Matthew has suffered is enormous, is absolute, and final, everything has been stolen from him in this life. The only thing I can do for him now in this life is to honor his memory and to bring as much positivity in his name as possible despite all the devastation and destruction. Therefore, to celebrate and honor Matthew, we are again this year, planning to raise funds for Make-A-Wish Ireland in Matthew’s name, a charity which reflects Matthew’s fun and adventurous character. We are holding a motorbike and vintage car run with music etc. afterwards in Watergrasshill village (details below) on Sunday 18th of May to celebrate his birthday, for which he should have turned 8 years old on the previous Saturday 17th May.
The support received last year for this event was incredible and €38,645 was raised for Make-A-Wish Ireland, this support means so much to myself and my family as we make our way through this enormous grief. It was beyond heartwarming to witness so many turning out for my little man, both on the day and online, I thank you all from the bottom of my heart for your support. I would really appreciate your support with this fundraiser again this year, if you can, you can donate via the link below or on the day if you are attending the event, everyone is welcome. I would also appreciate it if you could forward this to your own list of contacts. Your support is greatly appreciated…..Thank you.”
