“Radio Treasures” Tonight Features True Gems!

Tonight on “Radio Treasures” broadcast on Cork Music Station 9:30 to 11:00pm we feature our regular items with a splendid blend of uplifting songs and music as well as a variety of interesting musings.    Among the Treasures to feature tonight:

  1.  Reviewing the new Historic Collection presented by Eileen Cronin whose  interview last week proved hugely popular with among the many Listeners a lady from a very famous familyWe get to meet with John, Derek and April on a very special visit to Millstreet.
  2. We hear about Millstreet Community Singers at Kanturk Community Hospital.   And we receive a report from Ita and William re Bumbleance.
  3. We witness a presentation by Millstreet Athletic Club to Fr. Paddy O’Byrne on the celebration of his Diamond Jubilee to the Priesthood.
  4. We hear some very special songs such a “Flying by” composed by Davy Ryan and “When the Robins Return” wonderfully sung by Paudie McAuliffe from Shrone.  At the request of Pat and Olive Monaghan in Nevada Seán Cuddy’s “Someone from Home”.  And with the help of James Wickham of Minnesota, USA we hear the amazing singing voice of Maureen O’Hara!

“Radio Treasures” Tonight Features Interview with Eileen Cronin

Tonight on “Radio Treasures” broadcast on Cork Music Station 9:30 to 11:00pm we feature our regular items with a splendid blend of uplifting songs and music as well as interesting musings.    

Our 10pm Interview is with Eileen Cronin of Scrahan, Knocknagree who has very kindly presented a hugely historic soldier’s belt of 1916 with a direct link to Eamon de Valera.   Hear the wonderful Eileen tonight at 10pm in a superb interview which I recorded recently in her most welcoming home near the Cork/Kerry border.

The Bumbleance Go Fund Me Project is close on €1,300.00. The target is €1,500.00 and the fundraising is open until 12 midnight on this Tuesday, 30th June 2020.     Visitors to Tubrid Holy Well, Millstreet delighted that this Centre of Prayer and Haven of Peace reopened on Sunday, 7th June 2020 with COVID-19 safety measures in place.
    Cork Co. Council Millstreet recently put in place at West End, Millstreet a very impressive Steel Bicycle Stand Feature fabricated by Vanhalen Ltd., Liscreagh, Millstreet.
    Angela Sheehan of Shinnagh, Rathmore is a loyal regular visitor to Tubrid Holy Well, Millstreet pictured (7th June 2020) on the evening of the reopening of this Centre of Prayer and Haven of Peace with COVID-19 safety measures in operation.
    Patrick W. O’Leary of Louisville, Kentucky, USA kindly posted these two wonderful Kentucky St. Patrick’s Day Tee-shirts to Millstreet – which arrived this morning.
    During my Clara Road walk on Sunday, 7th June 2020 I got to meet Evelyn and John Moylan with Georgie the dog and Polo the Pony. June Moylan kindly shared four superb images of Evelyn and John’s recent trip to the summit of Clara Mountain – totally charming and courageous. Many thanks for sharing such photographic gems, June.

“Radio Treasures” Tonight Remembers Big Tom, Brian Dennehy & Fr. Liam

On Cork Music Station tonight  (Tuesday, 21st April 2020) from 9.30 to 11.00pm we have a very special programme including a live interview at 10pm with Mayo’s Michael Commins of Midwest Radio on the second anniversary of the late Big Tom McBride and his wife Rose.   We also recall the late Hollywood Actor supreme – Brian Dennehy and his visit to Millstreet in 1992.   We remember Fr. Liam Comer and hear an uplifting story from Geraldine Dennehy about the day Fr. Tonight’s “Radio Treasures” on Cork Music Station  (Tuesday, 25th Feb. 2020) we listen at 10 pm to an interview with Director of Nursing, Margaret Collins and Gerard Cleary of Hospital, Co. Limerick on the occasion of a most memorable visit of a delightful Mobile Farm (from Co. Limerick) to St. Joseph’s Community Hospital, Millstreet in July 2018.  And we also hear a brief section of an historic interview recorded in Derrinagree in 1979.   All this and more plus references to the images illustrated below.  And of course lots of songs, musings and music.   Happy Listening!  (S.R.)

BTYSTE 2020 Special Two Hour Programme Tonight on “Radio Treasures” on Cork Music Station 9:30 to 11:30 pm
