Congratulations to O’Leary’s Family Butchers who won two Golds at the BLAS Irish Food Awards which were held in Dingle today. The awards celebrate and reward the very best tasting Irish food and drink products, and the passionate, driven producers who make it. The O’Leary Golds were for their:
- Beef and Mozarella Slider in the “Beef Value added Burger Style” category, and their
- Buffalo Burger which won the “Other Meats” category
Well done to Jerry Pat of O’Leary Family Butchers Millstreet, Co. Cork crowned Craft Butchers Supreme Speciality Foods Champion 2017/18 for ‘D’Healthy Turkey Burger‘. It is difficult to make moist turkey burgers but Jerry has the secret, with his burger being described by the judges as “excellent quality turkey combined with great seasoning and a great depth of flavour … the moisture level is just right, the Juiciest Turkey Burger I have ever tasted”. – from the Associated Craft Butchers of Ireland

Press Release (Oct 3rd): O’Leary’s Family Butchers in Millstreet, Co. Cork, have won gold at the prestigious Blas na hÉireann Irish Food Awards over the weekend. Owners Jerry and James O’Leary scooped top place in the ‘Other Meat’ category in Dingle on Saturday, October 1st, for their Mushera Venison Burgers.

Congratulations all at to O’Leary’s Butchers of the Square Millstreet who won a gold medal in the Prepared Chicken section at Blas na hÉireann (Irish Food Awards) with their Easy Carve Gourmet Chicken. They were also listed in the Chef’s Choice for their Spiced Beef. It’s their first time entering the competition.

Millstreet had two winners at the recent Sausage & Pudding Championships with O’Leary’s Family Butchers in the Square winning a Gold medal in the Traditional Sausage section, and O’Brien’s Craft Butcher from Minor Row winning a Silver Medal also in the Traditional Sausage. They had previously been successful in the regional competitions (Southern Region) which qualified them for the finals. All the medals won are detailed below. Well known Jerry Pat O’Leary recently won a National Award at Craft Butchers Sausage & Pudding competition at the RDS in Dublin.
He demonstrated that the very important attribute of consistency forms part of his reputation for quality, by hitting the top spot at the award ceremony. Having given a strong performance at regional level with three gold medals, Mr O’Leary’s produce was recognised and awarded by the presiding judges.
