Macroom 1 Millstreet Celtic 1

Millstreet Celtic drew 1-1 with Macroom this afternoon away from home. They started the game very well and had the ball in the net after 15 mins through Chris Cleary but it was ruled out for a very tight offside. Cleary had another chance just after but shot wide and Barry Lawlor had a good strike charged down by a defender. They couldn’t capitalise on the possession though and went in level at half time. The second half was more of the same but they finally took the lead after 60 mins. Lawlor swung in a corner and Tadhg Collins powered home the header. Macroom came back at us but didn’t create many chances and they almost doubled their lead on 70 mins when a cracking volley from Mike Murphy came back off the crossbar. Then, with 10 mins to go Macroom equalised through a good header from a free kick. Millstreet had a chance to win it at the end but Murphy’s header was just off target. Disappointment not to get the 3 points but it’s a point away from home nonetheless. Best on the day were Eamon O Keeffe and Trevor O’Connor. By Tim Kiely

  1. Sickened. I was very interested to see how you’d do against these lads. They were very well organised and ran away with 3a. I’d be happy enough with the point!
