Drishane Drama Camp Concert was held on Friday, 30th July 2010. For the past two weeks a wonderful combination of international and local young people took part in the splendidly creative project. The Concert presented a most enjoyable mixture of song, dance and drama. There will be a full report with lots of pictures in next week’s “Corkman”. Great credit is due to all who helped to co-ordinate the magnificent presentation. Here we share the first of a number of images from this uplifting event at Drishane, Milllstreet. (Seán)

With the Drishane Garden Fête on next Sunday, archived photos from the Millstreet Museum collection of the Garden Fête 1988 had the cobwebs wiped off them and were scanned in to give an idea of what was happening back then. All the photos are below.

Drishane Castle Garden Fete Sunday May 30th 2010.

The Drishane Castle Garden Fete was a traditional bi annual established by the Sisters of the Infant Jesus during their time in Drishane Convent 1909 – 1992. It was staged as a fund raiser for the Missions.
It was always an event held close to people’s hearts, attracting crowds of supporters from near and far. Sadly the tradition died when the Sisters’ time in Drishane came to an end, the last one was staged in May 1990 exactly 20 years ago.

2010 sees the revival of the Garden Fete on Sunday May 30th 1pm – 6pm. It promises to be a day of great festivity and celebration. It co incidentally corresponds with the Polish Celebration of “Children’s Day” further ensuring that it will be a fun filled day for all members of the family. The Committee is delighted to offer an afternoon of quality entertainment for all members of the family while also helping Baby Jacob in his lifetime challenge of blindness.
Admission for children (u 18′s) is free while adults carry a charge of €10 per person

Jacob Nowak was born last August suffering from Anophthalmos (he has no eyes). He needs a series of operations for the first 7 years of his life, to ensure the uniform development of his face, skull and eye sockets. In his short 8 months he has already endured 2 operations. The event is being organised by the Baby Jacob Trust Committee for the benefit of Baby Jacob.

We invite you to the beautiful grounds of Drishane Castle for this very special occasion on May 30th. You will be assisting us in assisting Baby Jacob, and also enjoying the many things on offer. If you cannot come along on the day, please keep in touch with Jacob on www.babyjacob.ie

A Night at the Castle – Extra Date

There has been an amazing response. We can hardly believe that ‘A Night at the Castle’, Friday December 4^th for Baby Jacob is SOLD OUT!

So to unprecedented demand…. An extra performance has been organized for Sunday December 6^th at the earlier time of 4pm.

The organising committee have passed on the flier for the extra concert which you can see on the left (click on it to get a bigger version).
