As our Breton Friends from our Twin Town Pommerit le Vicomte return home following an enjoyable week in Millstreet and the West of Ireland we feature on Cork Music Station tonight at 10:00 a special musical recording presented at Coolefield House (the home of Michael, Pam and the Thornton Family) on Sunday 16th Sept. 2018. Our 10pm feature tonight on “Radio Treasures” on Cork Music Station (Tues. 11th Sept. 2018) recalls Michael Linehan’s 70th Birthday which took place in Scartaglin on last Saturday night. We also hear the superb pipe music as played by Con Houlihan of Cullen Pipe Band as he piped Michael into the three Bars in Scartaglin – O’Connor’s, Lyons’s and Fleming’s. We reflect on the very successful Autumn Vintage Car Run of last Sunday. We chat about our 1940s historic photos of Millstreet Boys’ Secondary School. And we travel to Gneeves Wind Farm in the company of Patrick W. O’Leary, Kentucky, USA and Brendan Murphy, Millstreet.

Thanks to the magnificent kindness of Caroline, Martina, Joan and the Cashman Family of Tullig and Ratoath, Co. Meath we had the great privilege to have been present at the historic Papal Visit to Croke Park on last Saturday night (25th August 2018). And we were so delighted to have been joined by Tom and Mary Healy of Banteer at the Stadium and to have met with Monsignor Dan O’Connor and also Evelyn and all from Macroom as we left the historic event. Due to the fact that Broadband Coverage was not available in our Millstreet Studio last night (Tuesday) we were not able to broadcast “Radio Treasures” as scheduled. William Fitzgerald kindly transmitted his own Thursday Show instead. Consequently “Radio Treasures” will this week be broadcast this Thursday (25th Jan. 2018) from 9 to 11pm (an extra half-hour bonus!)…Seán R.
Tomorrow (Thursday, 25th Jan. 2018)….We feature the very best of music and song and we have a selection of musings of a wide and interesting variety. We reflect on last Friday’s Millstreet Gramophone Circle and on Sunday’s Vintage Event. We talk about Killarney House which has recently been superbly renovated.
We continue out musical tour to such places as Portugal, Italy, New Zealand, England, America, Medjugorje to mention but some interesting locations we visit musically. We also feature interviews with “Winny” of “Mrs. Brown’s Boys“. We listen to wonderful music from Lisselton and there’s more – much more!
At 10pm we continue to share the Years of the “8” when we hear about what happened in 1978, 1988, 1998 and 2008.
And we especially remember those who have recently gone to their Eternal Reward. In particular we recall the very special occasion at Buttevant Church in May 2017 when the late Marie Collins was present with her Family and Friends to witness the CD launch of the Shandrum Céilí Band with which Marie’s Family is closely linked. Millstreet Vintage Club and Cancer Connect would like to thank Everybody that came out to Support our Show on Sunday last. The Show which was thankfully Blessed with fine weather was an outstanding success with great support on the the day, over 150 vehicles were on display and to all the people that brought out there beautiful exhibits from both near and far. We thank each and every one of you for making the journey, to all the club members who helped out and worked very hard both on the lead up to the event and on the day itself many many thanks. To everybody that helped in anyway no matter how big or small we thank you all very much, to Millstreet GAA, the Town Park Committee, and Millstreet Soccer Club we are most grateful for the use of a top class venue and facilities, without your help and support the event would not have been the success that it was. A very big thank you to all our very generous sponsors who very kindly donated great prizes for our draw. To Sgt. Paul Lynch and his team, we thank them very much for keeping traffic flow and parking facilities running like clockwork, to the Millstreet Fire Brigade Crew for providing us with their time and for giving an insight into the skills and dedication of their challenging job, to the Broomhill Tractor Build Team for bringing their Championship Winning Tractor Build to the Show, to the Millstreet Pipe Band, and to Danny and Pat of Back on Track for providing great Music and Entertainment. It is indeed a true milestone for Cork Music Station to have been launched from today (20th June 2017) on Internet Radio. Up to now we were an online radio station accessed mainly through computer, ipad and phone. All this will continue but now we are being broadcast on Internet Radio worldwide. To discover this on your Internet Radio just go to Menu. Look for Stations…Local Ireland….Country and that is where Cork Music Station is available as clear as could be worldwide. Save the station on a particular number and that allows one to immediately turn on the station whenever one wishes by just pressing the chosen button number.
