The celebration of the Month’s Mind Mass for the late Judy Cronin of Church Street, Millstreet at St. Patrick’s Church will be broadcast on Cork Music Station on this Friday (25th Sept. 2020) at 7.30pm.   It will be preceded by a special programme beginning at 7pm of Judy’s favourite songs and music.  (S.R.)

Can anyone identify this beautiful bird which Noel C. Duggan, a Visitor from Longford and I met in St. Patrick’s Cemetery (beside the Church)? The bird was so very friendly and we all agreed that it directed us to the grave which was being sought by the Longford Visitor. UPDATE: Poet Supreme Francis Duggan got in touch with us from Australia this Sunday morning to indicate the the Bird is a JUVENILE EUROPEAN ROBIN (3 to 4 months old). Thanks a million Francis.

“Where the Road Take Me” on C103 at 7pm Sunday 19th July

The four part series ‘The Singer & the Songwriter’ concludes on Where the road takes me this week, as John Greene rounds off his conversation with singer-songwriter Johnny Duhan.

Although he had pinned his hopes on a completely different song he had written at the time, the reaction to, and success of ‘The Voyage’, both surprised and pleased him enormously. 

Fans of Bob may be none too pleased to hear Duhan say that he believes Dylan and his likes, may never have had a hit song without the weight and financial backing of big record companies.

There’s a lesson in humility at a gig in Donegal, 

And……….. Surprise! Surprise!  Not everybody liked the song ‘The Voyage’.  But maybe no surprise to hear it was a Corkman.  This Leeside rebel felt he had good reason to hate the song. Weekday Mass Broadcasts on CMS End on Thursday

While the 10am Mass on Thursday, 16th July 2020 will be our final weekday broadcast of the celebration of Mass from St. Patrick’s Church, Millstreet on Cork Music Station we shall continue transmitting the celebration of Mass on Sundays at 11.30am followed by “Lunchtime Favourites”.   Since the beginning of our broadcasts in early March 2020 we have received lots of uplifting messages from Loyal Listeners worldwide indicating how much the many broadcasts on Radio have meant to them during this COVID-19 era.   Sincere thanks to William and Ita Fitzgerald who made the technical transmission possible; to Canon John Fitzgerald, P.P. for excellent cooperation;   to Fr. Tonight…on this Bastille Day 14th July 2020… on “Radio Treasures” broadcast on Cork Music Station 9:30 to 11:00pm we feature our regular items with a splendid blend of uplifting songs and music as well as a variety of interesting musings.    Among the Treasures to feature tonight:

  1.  Reviewing the new Historic Collection presented by Eileen Cronin whose  interview a fortnight ago proved hugely popular with among the many Listeners a lady from a very famous family. This week Eileen shares a very rare 1916 Military Sports Programme which Major John Robson sent to Eileen in the 1960s.
  2. We hear about Millstreet Community Singers at Kanturk Community Hospital.   And we listen to one two of their songs.
  3. We especially remember the late Evelyne Perrot of Pommerit le Vicomte as well as Mary Quinn of Co. Clare both recently deceased.  We recall Anne Keane on her First Anniversary.
  4. We hear some very special songs such a “Flying by” composed by Davy Ryan and “When the Robins Return” wonderfully sung by Paudie McAuliffe from Shrone.  At the request of Pat and Olive Monaghan in Nevada Finbar Furey’s “The Old Man”.  And with the help of James Wickham of Minnesota, USA we hear the amazing singing voice of Kate Smith – the “American Dame Vera Lynn”.

Religious Broadcasts on Cork Music Station to Continue

For the next fortnight we shall be broadcasting live the celebration of Mass at St. Patrick’s Church, Millstreet as we have been doing since the beginning of the onset of COVID-19 with its many restrictions.   Our week-day daily broadcasts will continue for the next fortnight and will then end as more people are gradually being permitted to attend Church for the celebration of Mass.   However, our broadcast of 11.30 a.m. Sunday Mass will continue until full congregations are permitted to attend Mass in Church.   And our “Lunchtime Favourites” following Mass until 1.15pm will also continue on Cork Music Station.   We thank the very many Listeners worldwide who have been tuning into our Religious Broadcasts and who have been sending such uplifting kind comments.  If you wish to make contact with our Radio Station just email corkmusicstation@ gmail.com.

Our 10pm Interview is with Eileen Cronin of Scrahan, Knocknagree who has very kindly presented a hugely historic soldier’s belt of 1916 with a direct link to Eamon de Valera.   Hear the wonderful Eileen tonight at 10pm in a superb interview which I recorded recently in her most welcoming home near the Cork/Kerry border.

“Radio Treasures” Tonight with Focus on Eugene, Denis & Bumbleance

    Visitors to Tubrid Holy Well, Millstreet delighted that this Centre of Prayer and Haven of Peace reopened on Sunday, 7th June 2020 with COVID-19 safety measures in place.
    Cork Co. Council Millstreet recently put in place at West End, Millstreet a very impressive Steel Bicycle Stand Feature fabricated by Vanhalen Ltd., Liscreagh, Millstreet.
    Angela Sheehan of Shinnagh, Rathmore is a loyal regular visitor to Tubrid Holy Well, Millstreet pictured (7th June 2020) on the evening of the reopening of this Centre of Prayer and Haven of Peace with COVID-19 safety measures in operation.
    Patrick W. O’Leary of Louisville, Kentucky, USA kindly posted these two wonderful Kentucky St. Patrick’s Day Tee-shirts to Millstreet – which arrived this morning.
    During my Clara Road walk on Sunday, 7th June 2020 I got to meet Evelyn and John Moylan with Georgie the dog and Polo the Pony. June Moylan kindly shared four superb images of Evelyn and John’s recent trip to the summit of Clara Mountain – totally charming and courageous. Many thanks for sharing such photographic gems, June.
