Wexford natives Cathal and Paul who have superbly just constructed a most impressive Polytunnel at the rear of the Adult Learning Centre.    And we feature the splendid recording of Niamh Kavanagh with the Students and Band of Millstreet Community School which presently may be viewed on YouTube…with their version of “I’m still standing” and “Mustang Sally”. We discover a local connection with the Royal Funeral of Prince Philip on Saturday, 17th April 2021 in that one of the Horseback Guards (seen on extreme right) is Tara Kelly whose Grandmother, Kathy Kelly of London and formerly of Clongeel near Kanturk, is a Grandniece of the late Han and Luke O’Keeffe of The Tanyard, Millstreet….meaning that Tara is the Great Grandniece of Han and Luke.   We thank Kathy for alerting us to this historic connection.

At 10pm we broadcast the premiere of “Lovely Millstreet Town” sung by Tim Gleeson and which was the winning song of Millstreet’s 1980’s “Fáilte Festival Song Competition” composed by Jeremiah Lucey of Bounard,  Gneeveguilla.  Jeremiah’s daughters Noreen and Julia M. very kindly presented a very beautiful framed feature outlining the origins of the superb song.  This is on permanent display in Millstreet Museum.  We illustrate this wonderful story below through a series of images.   Tap on the pictures to enlarge.  (S.R.)
