Jean Hickey
Jean Hickey than me is a few years older I knew her long before she met and married Ted O Shea
And she went to live in Finnanefield in Kilcorney from Inchaleigh in Millstreet five or six miles away
I have not seen her for years but her I will remember until the reaper gives the call to me
Good people like her one does not wish to forget and she did not fade from my memory.

Fr. Séamus O’Connell
Fr. Séamus O’Connell was the Chaplain at Millstreet Community School from 1986 to 1989 who lots of us would remember well. These days he’s Rev O’Connell, and while still part of the Kerry Diocese, he is the Professor of Sacred Scripture at St. Patricks College, Maynooth, where is is a lecturer and a key researcher into the gospels of St. Mark, for which he has lots of published papers to his name.
On Friday February 3rd, he will explore the Gospel of Mark as the Gospel of God (Mark 1:14): Re-discovering Mark’s Gospel as a Story of Hope starting at 7.30pm. He will continue to open the Gospel to us and enable us to pray with the Word of God on Saturday: 10.00 a.m. to 1.00 p.m. in John Paul II Pastoral Centre, Rock Road, Killarney. [see the Diocese of Kerry website for further details]
This and more info on Rev. Séamus can be found on his biography page on the St.Patricks College website. [read more …] “Fr. Séamus O’Connell”

More brave Boeing swimmers
For various reasons some swimmers could not attend last week’s swim
and took part in the fundraising event on Saturday 15th January 2012
in much cooler conditions than their fellow swimmers last week!
Eileen Murphy welcomed everone and Stephen Tarrant of Tarrants Bar
handed out the well deserved t-shirts!
32 swimmers participated over the two days of the swim,
well done to all!
The Boeing’s New Year’s Oldest Swimmer
At the Boeing new year swim he is always first in
Mick Collins the fellow with anti freeze skin
For one in his late fifties or early sixties not much younger than me
He is quite a tough nut would you not agree
Age is a relative thing the brave Mick does not feel old
Like the Arctic bear he must be immune to cold
One can say in him there is much to admire
To greater things far younger than him he inspire
Thank you from Our Lady’s Children’s Hospital. Crumlin
