Deeply regretted by his nephews Matt and Brian, their families and the family of the late Moss, Bishop Bill Murphy, the priests of the Kerry Diocese, relatives and friends. Reposing at St.James Church, Killorglin on Friday 19th April from 4.00pm to 7.00pm. Liturgy at 7.00pm. Requiem Mass at 10.30am on Saturday 20th April Followed by Burial in Church Grounds. Good and Faithful Servant.

Millstreet Community School hosted a truly magnificent Transition Year Charity Fashion Show on Thursday, 18th April 2013 to the total delight of a wonderfully appreciative large audience.  Here we share the first of our selections of images from the superb occasion.   The Millstreet Reach Out Cancer Support Group will benefit from this year's event having been unanimously chosen as the most deserving and  inspiring well deserved cause.   (S.R.)

“Radio Treasures” on Cork Music Station This Evening 9.30 – 11.00 pm

“Radio Treasures”  on Cork Music Station www.corkmusicstation.com  this week features the Big Band Sound of the 1930s and 1940s including the wonderful tunes “The Peanut Vendor” and “Tea for Two”.     Tonight’s programme  also includes a brief feature on the interesting and oftentimes witty stories of everyday life in Ireland as reflected in the witty conversation.    Looking forward to sharing melodic and relaxing music.   (S.R.)

This week we mourn the passing of the Saintly Mons. Michael Manning who was our Parish Priest for over 17years until he retired two years ago. May his gentle Soul rest in Peace.

We are still being pounded by the unseasonal weather and praying for an improvement every day.

Mons. Micheál Manning, was Parish Priest of Millstreet parish for the seventeen years until his retirement in 2010. He was previously the Parish Priest in Annascaul but in February 1993,  Bishop of Kerry, the Most Rev. Diarmaid Ó Suilleabháin announced his transfer to Millstreet.

The death has occurred of Nancy Murphy, (née Horgan) of ‘Gurraneacarney’, Carriganima, Cork
MURPHY (Carriganima): On April 11, 2013, peacefully, at her residence ‘Gurraneacarney’ Nancy (nee Horgan, Kilgarvan) beloved wife of the late Paddy and dearly loved mother of Denis, Noreen, Mary, Stephen and Anne. Deeply regretted by her loving family, brother Jerh, sister Eileen, sons-in-law Jerry, Joe and Billy, daughters-in-law Trish and Catriona, sisters-in-law, brother-in-law, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Reposing at Tarrant’s Funeral Home, Millstreet on this Friday evening from 5pm to 8pm followed by removal to Carriganima Church. Requiem Mass tomorrow, Saturday, at 2pm. Burial afterwards in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Millstreet.

Cloghoula N.S. Very Successful MS Readathon Project 2013

Official Certificates and special prizes were presented to the children of Cloghoula N.S. on Wednesday, 10th April 2013 marking their wonderfully successful participation in the MS Readathon Project - one of the most important fundraising activities for the national MS Society of Ireland.   We thank Principal Mary Murphy and Teacher Leo McCarthy for their much appreciated assistance in coordinating the overall Project.  (S.R.)

Dia is Mhuire diobh go leir a cairde and welcome to news report 1162 from Millstreet.Fondest greetings dear listeners and I wish you all the very best of this rather dull but mild Tuesday morning.

 

In spite of the unyielding weather a large crowd  took part in the annual Clara Mountain Run on Sunday evening at 7. Competitors came from all parts of Munster to compete .Look up the Website for photo by Sean Radley and more details.

 

The Race was co-ordinated by the Duhallow Athletic Club.

 

Next   big out-of-doors event  here, will be Our Walking Festival on April

20/21st.with walks to suit all ages, that will take you through our Beautiful mountains , glens and pleasant lowlands. It’s an ideal opportunity for beginners as all walks will be led by experienced guides who will see to your every need.
