Chloé Collins has seen lots of action with the Cork U14 teams recently. Last week she was on the Cork U14 Camogie team playing in Ennis. This weekend she was on the Cork U14 Football team that won a blitz in Mullingar this weekend, beating Kerry by four points in the final. Next weekend she’s back in action with the footballers as they attempt to beat Kerry in the Munster Championship Final replay.

Niamh Kavanagh sings ‘In Your Eyes’ at the Green Glens
The video above shows Niamh Kavanagh last night performing her winning Eurovision song ‘In Your Eyes’ at the Green Glens Arena – the very place she won twenty years ago, at the twentieth anniversary celebrations of the Eurovision in Millstreet (18th May 2013). Niamh was the special guest at the party which was attended by about four hundred guests. Seán will surely have photos and video on the site in the next few days – video by Joseph Lawlor
Millstreet Celtic 5 Grangevale 1
We beat Grangevale 5-1 in the town park to ensure our survival in division 1 for next season. We were poor in the 1st half and went behind in the 20th min. Chances were hard to come by until in the 45th min Shane Dineen won the ball in the tackle and fed Donagh Murphy. Murphy played a ball into the feet of Paul Dawson who controlled it well and fired home at the near post. The goal gave us a bit lift and we took the lead 5 mins into the 2nd half. Dineen played in Tadhg Collins who held off the defender and finished well. We had a number of chances after that but had to wait until the 75th min to get the third. Services continue every Sunday night at 6.30 p. m. meeting in Drishane Castle (kindly granted) these meetings are open to everyone, not just residents of Drishane.
Also we are excited about plans for our mid-week Bible Group to move to more public premises in the town centre. From Tuesday 21st May this group will meet at
8.00 p. m. at the new Millstreet “Enterprise Centre” right on the town square. These are informal meetings when we gather to discuss the Bible together. They are open to anyone and everyone. A great way to find out more about the Bible and grow in faith. It would be great to see you there. <email>

An Post RÁS will pass through Millstreet next Thursday
The top cycling race in the country, the An Post RÁS is on all next week, and will pass through Millstreet on Thursday some time between 12:30 and 1:30pm. Click on the image (right) for the map and times for the day. If you’re about town get out and give them a shout as they whizz by on their bikes.
“… The following day (Thursday), the riders will compete over a flatter 150.2 kilometre race from Glengarriff to Michelstown. Inside the first hour of racing on stage five they will scale the category two ascents of the Pass of Keimaneigh and Gortnabinna, then encounter 100 kilometres of mainly flat roads, passing through Macroom, Millstreet, Banteer and Mallow.
Those hoping to foil the sprinters will try to use the category three climb of Kildorrey to jump clear, but with fifteen kilometres between the summit and the finish, it’s a tough ask.” – from anpost.ie

Video Countdown to The 2013 Cork 20 Rally which will be based in Millstreet-Part 3
To get us in the mood for the 2013 Cork 20 Rally which will be based in Millstreet for the first time ever this year we take a look back at footage from some previous Cork 20 Rallies that have been held over the years to see what we have in store for us in Millstreet with the arrival of this event in October.
This time we go back to the 1987 Cork 20 Rally which would be the last Competitive Event that Billy Coleman took part in,driving a BMW M3 Coleman showed initial promise but crashed out in treacherous conditions early in the Rally.
Over the coming few weeks/months we will feature more Cork 20 footage from years gone by in a build up to what will be a Major Event for Millstreet to be held on 4th, 5th & 6th October 2013.

Fondest greetings dear listeners and I wish you all the very best on this wet Tuesday morning .
For a start this morning I want to offer sincere congratulations from our community to Mary & Bob Keane, Coolikerane and their family on winning €500,000 in the Euro millions at our Super Valu Store last week.
And we wish them Happy Days Ahead as a result.
It’s a case of all hands on deck this week in Millstreet, as we prepare to celebrate the 20th anniversary of our hosting of the EuroVision Song Contest on 1993. On this Saturday night May 18th the mighty Green Glens will again resound to the beautiful singing of Niamh Cavanagh who made us all so proud 20years ago.
Community School on upcoming Nationwide Programme
RTÉ Nationwide will broadcast the item featuring Millstreet Community School and the World Wide Welcome multicultural event as part of the show on Monday 20th May, which begins at 7pm on RTÉ 1 TV.

Toughathlon Videos
The first Toughatlon was held in the Green Glens and Drishane last Saturday. There were lots of brave people who signed up to get wet, dirty, electric shocked and exhausted. The fact that the ground was saturated from a week of heavy rain only made it that much more interesting. One of the competitors had a GoPro camera attached to her head and have put the video of their course on youTube. (thanks to Joseph for letting us know about the video)
