Rathcoole Playschool Features on Cover of Bernardos Journal
The “Trains Learning Experience” is explained in the NCCA publication:
“The Cork to Dublin train passes our play school every day and because of this trains are of great interest to the children. They play a lot of train games and so one day we asked the children if they would like to make a train. They were thrilled with the idea. We decided to use cardboard boxes to make the train and we painted it blue because [read more …] “Rathcoole Playschool Features on Cover of Bernardos Journal”

Regional Report 1186 – 24th September 2013
by
Eily Buckley
Dia is mhuire diobh go leir a cairde and welcome to News Report 1186 from Millstreet.
We had a great weekend here in Millstreet and lots of money were raised for some very good causes. It kicked off on Saturday with a 10k walk or run starting out from the Pub in Carriginma. It was a first and over 100 people took part. There was no shortage of cooling drinks and sticking plaster, along the way and later there was Music and Dancing with Tommy G. All the proceeds will be divided between Millstreet and Macroom Hospitals.
Sean and Matt at the Pub have top be commended for the great work that they do for their community in the greater Carriganima area.
Apart from that Our beautiful Country Park ran a super Kite Festival which attracted huge crowds. Again it was a first but one that is destined to become an annual event. The weather was great and children and adults had a great time, even learned how to make their own kite. All the proceeds will go to Cancer research. And well done to all concerned.
Our Pipe Band held their annual Church Gate collection. It was well supported and they want to thank all those who gave so generously.

Book: The Graves at Kilmorna – A Story of ’67
This is the 100th anniversary of the death of the great novelist, Canon Sheehan, and the Aubane Historical Society is celebrating it by republishing his last novel, “The Graves at Kilmorna – A Story of ’67” (296pp. ISBN 978-1-903497-78-4.)
It is a novel of the Fenian Rising of 1867 and of the subsequent decline of principled political national life in Ireland under the influence of the Home Rule Party. The central figure of the novel, a Fenian veteran, is killed by a Parliamentary mob for raising Fenian principles at an election meeting.
Canon Sheehan (1852-1913) completed the novel shortly before his death. It was published the following year, 1914, when the Home Rule Bill was being formally enacted by Parliament but was set aside in fact and the Home Rule leaders were recruiting Irish cannon fodder for the British war on Germany and [read more …] “Book: The Graves at Kilmorna – A Story of ’67”
