Christmas Carol Service DEFERRED Due to Weather Conditions

Due to such inclement weather conditions Tony McCaul has just informed us that tonight’s very special event at The Square has had to be DEFERRED until a later date.   Sincere apologies but with such heavy showers of rain and with many young people scheduled to participate it was decided that it would be best to CANCEL tonight’s event and reschedule for another occasion.

(This of course was the Special Event where Our local National Schools from Millstreet Boys and Girls, Cloghoula, Killcorney, Rathcoole, Derrinagree and Cullen were scheduled to hold a Christmas Carol Service at the Monument in the Town Square between 7pm and 8pm this Friday evening (13th Dec. 2013) to celebrate the refurbishment and the re-opening of the Town Square in Millstreet. )  (S.R.)

Road Bowling: Tom Browne won the Gerald Healy Cup final at Kilcorney where he beat Kevin Ruby in the last shot (1st Dec). They were locked together in the early stages. Browne gained odds down the hill and went almost a bowl clear at Coleman’s bridge. Ruby cut the lead to Cullinane’s and pressed on to force a last shot.

LTV2 Programme 225 (Number 5 of 2013/2014 Season)

Programme 225 which will be broadcast tonight Thursday 12 December at 10.00pm is now online. You can now watch our Fifth Programme of the New Season right here at millstreet.ie or on the LTV2 Facebook Page and this Programme will be repeated next Sunday Evening December 15 at 8.00pm
To receive reception one needs to retune analogue settings (available in menu “settings”). When scanning is complete one will now have the new channel – either UHF Channel 30 or UHF Channel 35 (or both in certain areas of Millstreet). All this depends on how strong the signal is in any given area. The UHF Channel 30 signal comes from the Carriganima direction whereas the UHF Channel 35 signal comes from the western side of Millstreet Town. The years roll by and Ken (Brennan) has gone over all the problems and all the ups and downs which he went through and finally succeeded with the school as it established. But, I want to take you back further, and indeed it was a hard act to follow, and i’m trying to follow Ken. Prior to the 60s there was talk of change in education in Ireland. and it really took head in the middle of the 1960s, when there were many people in favour of changing the system, especially of secondary education. And, then they were talking about community schools, comprehensive schools, others were talking that they were a shame, that they’d be this and that as Ken explained. And, it finally came to a head in the late 60s when decisions had to be made. The Christmas season got off to a great start in Cullen on Sat. Dec. 7th when the Cullen and District special Needs Association hosted the 33rd  annual Christmas Mass in the newly renovated Cullen Community Centre, which was much admired and appreciated by all guests. The sun shone brightly as all assembled for Mass celebrated by Canon Jack Fitzgerald, P.P. with the local choir and organist Susan O’Connor, adding to the celebration and making it such a special and meaningful occasion. Chairperson Breda O’Riordan welcomed all and was delighted to see such a great crowd.

The launch will take place on 8th December @ 3pm Ballyseedy Garden Center Tralee! The author Patricia O’Sullivan will read from the book in schools and starts this Monday in Boherbue! To coincide with this Ballyseedy are running a children’s drawing/art competition! The theme is “A Ballyseedy Christmas” and can incorporate anything associated with Ballyseedy including this wonderful new book!
