There was a great day (and night) of entertainment yesterday (18th Dec) with two performances of the Christmas Pageant at St.Brendan’s NS Rathcoole where the children did everyone proud. Here are two video clips of the preformances. There are more photos and videos on the School website stbrendansrathcoole.scoilnet.ie. With thanks to Maureen for this article.
We thank Eleanor Leahy of “Nibbles Food Emporium” for alerting us to the fact that Millstreet Country Park will feature in the new series of “At Your Service” with John & Francis Brennan on Sunday, 19th January 2014 on RTÉ1 television. (S.R.)
In recent days it was brought to our notice that the much appreciated television signal from St. Patrick’s Church, Millstreet was not working. Having alerted the necessary people with expertise in these matters it was discovered that a technical problem existed. Thankfully as the problem was internal and not connected to the aerial on the roof the cost of repair would not be as significant. The signal is now fully restored. Such a facility from a local parish church is indeed special and is quite a rare provision in other areas. The church television signal was initially established and financed by the Presentation Sisters primarily to provide access to church services for the Presentation Convent and St. Joseph’s Community Hospital. Private houses over quite a large area of Millstreet and its environs have also been able to receive the signal. It is transmitted on Channel 53 UHF. Those houses with an aerial pointing in the direction of the Church are most likely to receive the best signal. It can only be tuned in when a service is in progress at the Church where the camera which is focused on the main altar is switched on. (S.R.)

Programme 226 which will be broadcast tonight Thursday 19 December at 10.00pm is now online. You can now watch our Sixth Programme of the Season right here at millstreet.ie or on the LTV2 Facebook Page and this Programme will be repeated next Sunday Evening December 22 at 8.00pm
To receive reception one needs to retune analogue settings (available in menu “settings”). When scanning is complete one will now have the new channel – either UHF Channel 30 or UHF Channel 35 (or both in certain areas of Millstreet). All this depends on how strong the signal is in any given area. The UHF Channel 30 signal comes from the Carriganima direction whereas the UHF Channel 35 signal comes from the western side of Millstreet Town. This is now saved and is presently transmitting the EWTN (Religious) Channel. [read more …] “LTV2 Programme 226 (Number 6 of 2013/2014 Season)”

Dia is mhuire diobh go leir a cairde and welcome to News report 1197 from Millstreet.
Fondest greetings dear listeners and I wish you all the very best on this cold and wintery Tuesday morning. With a touch of snow on the ground and a red horizon all round. Beautiful.
Inclement weather proved a real spoilsport of our Big moment of turning on the Christmas Lights on Friday evening.
A fine program of School children singers as well as our Community singing group was planned, but the high winds and heavy rains soon put a stop to it.
However a great time was still had by all in Aubane, with their Christmas Mass and party. And this was followed by the turning on of the Lights at the Pub in Carriganima. The Community singers attended and their entertainment was very well received. [read more …] “Regional Report 1197 – 17th December 2013”
The former headquarters of the Metropolitan Police is to be turned into a luxury hotel, with rooms costing up to £10,000 a night, by a London-based property firm headed by a Corkman.

“We want to create a world-class hotel there,” said Millstreet-born Donagh O’Sullivan, managing director of the Galliard Group … Read the full article on the Irish Times [read more …] “Donagh heads up redevelopment of Scotland Yard”
