Regional Report 2010 – 18th March 2014

Dia is mhuire diobh go leir a cairde and welcome to News Report 1210 from Millstreet.Fondest greetings dear listeners on this breezy, damp morning as we all try to recover from St Patrick’s Day.
Thank God the weather was great on the day,and on the previous days which gave people a chance to prepare for the greatest event of the year. The greatest I say because as St. Patrick is not just the patron saint of Ireland but his feast is celebrated in every country in the world, even in thetiny West Indian island of Montserrat, which is about the size of Munster. Their celebrations go on for a full week.

Official Launch of Charity Horse Carriage Drive from Malin to Mizen 2014
A marvellous Dalmation Dog will be following the horse carriage. On Sunday we noted how similar in colouring were the very patient horse and the dog! Here we view some further images from the official launch. The fundraising is of course in aid of Cancer Research and all funds will be directed to the Cork Centre where such excellent research work is being carried out. Aghinagh Macra na Feirme will be lending very valuable support during the Drive which takes place from 9th to 19th July 2014. We recorded the launch event for LTV2 which will be broadcast soon and will give people an opportunity to hear the splendid addresses shared by such coordinators for Breakthrough Cancer Research as Orla Dolan, BSc MBS. More information will follow closer to the [read more …] “Official Launch of Charity Horse Carriage Drive from Malin to Mizen 2014”

Accommodation request for retreat team o/n 17th March
The 1st and 2nd year students at Millstreet Community School have a retreat on Tuesday 18th March in Millstreet Parish Centre. As I mentioned in a previous post, I am hoping to find simple accommodation for the team of 18-25 year young adults who will be running the retreat. There are ten of them and they belong to NET Ministries. They are mostly from USA and Canada.
Thanks to those who have already volunteered to host pairs of the team. I still have four to find accommodation for. If there are two families able to give them accommodation and a simple meal on the evening of 17th March (they’ll be arriving in Millstreet at 7pm), and breakfast on the 18th March, that would be great. They need to be back at the parish centre for between 8.00am or 8.15am. If you can help please contact John Magee at Millstreet Community School on 029 70087 tomorrow (Friday), as we are closed on Monday. Thank you.

LTV2 Programme 234 (Number 14 of 2014 Season) Now Online
LTV2 Millstreet Programme 234 is now online right here on millstreet.ie or on the LTV2 Facebook Page or you can tune in on your TV this Thursday Evening Mar 13 at 10.00pm with a repeat of this Programme being televised next Sunday Evening Mar 16 at 8.00pm
To receive reception one needs to retune analogue settings (available in menu “settings”). When scanning is complete one will now have the new channel – either UHF Channel 30 or UHF Channel 35 (or both in certain areas of Millstreet). All this depends on how strong the signal is in any given area. The UHF Channel 30 signal comes from the Carriganima direction whereas the UHF Channel 35 signal comes from the western side of Millstreet Town. This is now saved and is presently transmitting the EWTN (Religious) Channel.

A request for families to host retreat team in Millstreet
A retreat for 1st and 2nd year pupils from Millstreet Community School will take place on Tuesday 18th March 2014 upstairs in the Parish Centre Millstreet, beginning at 9am.
The day will be led by the National Evangelisation Team (NET) Ministries which is a non-profit, Catholic Youth Ministry. Over the last number of years they have run retreats in a number of schools in Kerry Diocese and this will be the sixth year they’ll have been in Millstreet.
The NET team consists of 10 members: 6 girls, 4 boys, ranging from the ages of 18 to 25. This team of young adults spend a year away from their own families in USA and Canada to share their faith with the young people of Ireland.
We are looking for families to put up the team members in pairs during their time in Millstreet for one night: Monday 17th March, from 7pm. Families willing to do so are asked to provide a simple meal and a place to sleep, which does NOT necessarily have to be a bed. The team members have their own sleeping bag and pillow and are flexible with where they sleep for the night, be it floors, couches, or air mattresses. They’ll need to be a parish centre on 18th March by about 8/8.10am the next morning to get ready for their busy day.
They are not expecting to be waited on, but are rather geared towards spending time with the family and adapting to your normal routine.
If any families are able to host a pair of the team members for the night of 17th March, please contact John Magee (Chaplain, Millstreet Community School) on 029 70087.
