Election day is drawing near, on Friday next May 23rd, we all have the privilege to go to the polling booths and vote. To have a vote is a wonderful thing, it gives us the power to choose the person who, in our opinion will work for us and our community in the months and years ahead.
It’s not an easy decision to make You see the posters on the walls and poles all over the country, all striving to get the go ahead for their own party or group. Picking one is just a game of chance, because you really don’t
know them, You’ll see the party they represent, but what of the individual. You just don’t know.

Death Notice: John Joe Dineen, Shinnagh & Rathduane

The death has occurred of John Joe Dineen, Shinnagh and formerly of Rathduane, Rathmore. Reposing at O’Keeffe’s Funeral Home, Rathmore, this Monday (19th) from 5.30pm to 7.30pm, followed by removal to St. Patrick’s Church, Millstreet. Requiem Mass on Tuesday at 12 noon with burial afterwards in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Millstreet.

“Round the Fireside” on c103 Tonight at 9.50 Relates to Bealtaine Festival Throughout Duhallow with Special References to Millstreet

On c103 in Jimmy Reidy’s long established and very popular series “Round the Fireside” the second programme which will focus on the current Bealtaine Festival, is scheduled to be broadcast on this Monday, 19th May at its usual time of 9.50pm.  (S.R.)

Royal Welcome for Chloe, Megan and Linda – Boxing Heroes

Chloe Barrett, Linda Desmond and Megan Lehane all participated in the highly prestigious Amateur Boxing All-Ireland Championships in Dublin.  A superb victory parade was held on Sunday evening followed by a celebratory social evening at Tarrant's Bridge Bar where Rylane Boxing Coach Dan Lane addressed the large gathering. Day After First Holy Communion 2014

At 11.30 a.m. Mass in St. Patrick's Church, Millstreet the congregation warmly applauded the First Holy Communicants who sang two of their beautiful hymns which they had sung the day before at their First Holy Communion.  Maria Casey (nee O'Sullivan) provided splendid musical accompaniment for the  wonderful singers.  After Mass lots of families assembled to converse and to take further photographs of a very special occasion.   Click on the images to enlarge.  (S.R.)

Victory Parade at 6.30pm Today for Chloe and Megan Who Won Prestigious All-Ireland Gold Medals in Dublin Yesterday at the Amateur Boxing Championships

Beginning at Colemans in Minor Row and proceeding to Tarrant’s Bridge Bar, Millstreet the  Victory Parade at 6.30pm today (Sunday, 18th May 2014) for Chloe Barrett and Megan Lehane who won Prestigious All-Ireland Gold Medals in Dublin yesterday at the Amateur Boxing Championships, will include members of Millstreet Pipe Band and lots of enthusiastic Supporters.   Everyone is welcome to celebrate such an historic win for two great sports people from Aubane.  Following some uplifting words a celebratory social evening will follow at Tarrant’s Bridge Bar. Sincere Congratulations to Chloe and Megan.   (S.R.)

Gramophone Circle Special Tonight as part of Bealtaine Festival 2014

A very special Millstreet Gramophone Circle meeting takes place on this Friday, 16th May at 8.15p.m in the Canon O’Donovan Day Care Centre on Clara Road. This is in fact one of the many superb events in the month-long IRD Duhallow-coordinated Bealtaine Festival programme. As well as experiencing this month’s Presenter’s musical choice the audience is invited to share gems from their own musical treasures making it a truly interactive night. We shall also be including a special feature on a recent John McCormack box-set launch. Everyone is very welcome.  (S.R.)

Good morning to you Patricia and welcome, dear Listeners, to Millstreet on this bright and fresh summer morning,  the 13th May 2014 which is exactly two days short of the 21st anniversary of the Eurovision Song Contest 1993 which was broadcast worldwide from the Green Glens Arena here in Millstreet.    This is Regional Report No. 1217.  And firstly we extend sincere sympathy to the Corkery Family and to Eily Buckley whose brother Denis Corkery of Kilmacthomas, Co. Waterford and formerly of Liscahane, recently went to his Eternal Reward.   Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam dílis.   Eily will be back reporting here on c103 as usual next week.
