The Claramore Rill
From a high field by Clara it babbles downhill
With a silver tongue that is never still
Down to Claraghatlea it flows with a will
The waterway known to some as the Claramore Rill
On Claraghatlea Bridge on an evening in Spring
How lovely to listen to the dipper sing
The dark brown water bird of breast white as snow
By sight or by song that everyone seem to know

Let’s Talk & Walk on Sunday 25th May in Newmarket
On Sunday next IRD Duhallow together with IFA, Coillte, Mental Health Ireland and See Change are organising a walk in the Island Wood Newmarket with a focus on Raising Awareness on Mental Health. The theme of the day is “Let’s Talk and Walk”
The Green Ribbon Walk is a month long campaign that is taking place during May to raise awareness and promote positive mental health.
As you well know, peoples reasons for living in the countyside are many and varied including being born and reared there or made a deliberate decision to move, people tend to associate living in the country with having a better environment, more space, being more relaxed and possibly being safer, while these facts to a large extend are true country life does not always live up to its perceived idyllic image and there can be many associated difficulties with [read more …] “Let’s Talk & Walk on Sunday 25th May in Newmarket”

Sharing Canvassing Comment
We thank Margaret Buckley for sharing one of the comments expressed during current canvassing for the Local Election:
“On the canvass recently, I came across complaints of dog-fouling on the pavements around the town. One person in particular was fulsome in her praise of the beauty of the town and its environs but found it off-putting to come across dog poo on the pavements. Now that the summer months are here, more people will be out exercising. This is a gentle reminder that we should all take responsibility for our dogs and their leavings. Remember, the pavements are for everybody… Kind regards, Margaret Buckley.” (S.R.)Patsy’s Style Options and Eileen’s Forever Living Products

A victory parade, led by the pipe band, was held in their honour in Millstreet when they arrived home on Sunday evening. This was followed by a social evening at Tarrants Bar. Being members of the Rylane Boxing Club the crowd was addressed by their Manager, Dan Lane. He lauded the girls on their great success and complimented their parents and all who supported them.

County Elections.
Election day is drawing near, on Friday next May 23rd, we all have the privilege to go to the polling booths and vote. To have a vote is a wonderful thing, it gives us the power to choose the person who, in our opinion will work for us and our community in the months and years ahead.
It’s not an easy decision to make You see the posters on the walls and poles all over the country, all striving to get the go ahead for their own party or group. Picking one is just a game of chance, because you really don’t
know them, You’ll see the party they represent, but what of the individual. You just don’t know.
