Dia is mhuire diobh go leir a cairde and welcome to News Report 1242 from Millstreet. Fondest Greetings dear listeners and I wish you all the very best on this rather cold and calm Tuesday morning.
The launch of our Community singers CD was an outstanding success at the Wallis Arms hotel on Saturday night. The attendance surpassed all expectations. Marie Twomey, held court over the proceedings of the night with grace and panache, as only Marie could do. Family members of those involved in the CD came out in force. Also our Church Choir, as well as representatives of the many voluntary bodies in the parish. Noel Buckley representing the Community Council. Members of the Macroom Community Singers were there. The list goes on and on. It was an event with a difference, with a host of singers and entertainers keeping a continuous program of enjoyment going for hours. In spite of the extra large crowd, the Hotel served some beautiful finger food in abundance.
Music on the night was provided free by the wonderful Kelt as well as Peter Lane of Blackwater Sound fame.
Copies of the CD at €10 each were on sale at the event and a large number were sold.
The making of the ten track CD involved many months of hard work and dedication for the twenty plus people involved. Many trips to Neil Moylan’s supreme studio in Banteer, egged on the whole time by Marie who kept telling us that it will be worth it in the end. And how right she was, By urging us to believe in ourselves we achieved our goal , proceeds will go to Cancer research. All involved take a bow.
Copies of the CD at €10 each can be got from members of the singing group and from many shops in the town.
