“Where the Road Takes Me” This Sunday at 7pm on C103

We thank Presenter, John Greene for advance information regarding this week’s programme at 7pm on C103 on Sunday, 21st June 2020.  (S.R.)

This week on ‘Where the road take me’, John Greene concludes the three part programme ‘Inspiration from the past’.

The failure of the 1916 Rising, proved, that while the Irish were willing, they weren’t able or ready for the power of the enemy.    Those who were rounded up in its aftermath were shipped off to Frongoch prison camp in a remote part of Wales, and left basically to their own devices.  The camp now became known as a ‘University of Revolution’.  As a result, when the ‘War of Independence’ came about, the Irish were still willing, but as a result of the secret training they received at Frongoch, they were now also ready and able.  [read more …] ““Where the Road Takes Me” This Sunday at 7pm on C103″

Eily’s Report – 16th June

Dia is Mhuire díobh go léir a chairde, and welcome to my report.

Hopefully a date will be fixed for the biggest break in the Covid19 regulations, the ban on hairdressing. No other section of the entire pandemic regulations gets more coverage. It went to the point of panic as people of both genders, but mostly the women, looked to the future in despair as tresses grew longer and white roots got whiter. The signs were everywhere. Social distancing brought us into every home right across the world as reporters gave us their news from their own sitting rooms. Devoid of make-up and hair grooming. Hair was full topic on every phone call or meeting and friends who normally turned on Skype refrained from doing so because they were reluctant to let anybody see how they looked, unkempt. It was easy to get hair colour and family members turned stylists with a mixture of perfect or disastrous results. Not everybody was lucky enough to have someone  to trim their locks or even have a pair of scissors suited to the task, so the next best thing was D.I.Y. Again the need for a professional touch was plain to see.  They say that after this pandemic, things will never again be the same and I think it will apply to the locks as well. Some say they’ll never dye their hair again, others when they’ve seen it in a different line will want to change their style.  Hairdressers will be over-run because everybody will want to be in first.   The discarded tresses will fill volumes. It will level out in time but for now we mustn’t let the hair problem , go to our heads.

“Where the Road Takes Me” on C103 This Sunday at 7pm

We thank Presenter John Greene for advance information regarding his Sunday (14th June 2020) Radio Programme.  (S.R.)

It’s a Where the Road Takes Me ‘Special’ this week, as John Greene brings you the story of a Lockdown with a difference.

In a working-class district of West London, a mother calls her son, who has Asperger’s Syndrome’, downstairs for dinner.

Both she and her husband are unaware that their youngest has amassed 73 million dollars while trading in the financial markets on his home computer in his bedroom.

Neither are they aware that their son will become the focus of a global manhunt for allegedly causing the most mysterious financial crash in history.

Multi agencies, including the FBI will seek his extradition to the US where he faces a total of 378 years jail term.

This is a ‘David and Goliath’ story at it’s very best.  But why is a home lockdown involved and still is, as we speak.  [read more …] ““Where the Road Takes Me” on C103 This Sunday at 7pm”

Sincere Thanks from MCC to All Magnificent Front-line Workers

We received the following message from  Maura  Kiely,  Secretary,  Millstreet Community Council

On behalf of our community, Millstreet Community Council wish to acknowledge the Trojan work of the front-line staff of our hospital, medical surgeries, health centre, chemists, postmen, supermarkets, butchers, suppliers of petrol and diesel and all who helped the community in a variety of ways.

They served the community with good humour and smiles— even in the early days of this pandemic, before perspex protection and when nobody knew what to expect.
They all deserve our unending gratitude and perhaps the best way that we can show this gratitude now is to Shop Local.  (S.R.)
