Anita Notaro
If you are a fan of Eurovision then this will be very sad news. Anita Notaro was the tour de force responsible for directing the Eurovision Song Contest in 1993 from Millstreet in Ireland.
The 1993 contest was brought from the small village of Millstreet in County Cork and was a directing challenge for Anita Notaro but she confounded all the critics and made it one of the most memorable Eurovision’s in the contest’s history.
Anita worked as a highly successful Director with RTE (Irish National Broadcaster) for 18 years where she directed many programmes from The National Political Election coverage to The Eurovision Song Contest to Ireland’s most watched [read more …] “Anita Notaro”

The End of our Journey
Lovely November sunshine on Sunday in Brosna saw the end of the wonderful journey our footballers have taken us on this year. A poor enough league campaign, had us wondering if we had a chance at Duhallow this year, and those first tentative steps against Cullen in April/May it was hard to see how the team would improve through the year, but they did, the expectation grew, and suddenly we were Duhallow Champions, then amid amazing scenes we were County Champions, and we had our sights on a Munster title … if only we could get past these Kerry lads. But it wasn’t to be as we were pushed aside by a strong, well organised Brosna team. We’ve all been on a high for the last few months. It’s been fantastic to follow the team. Thanks to all the players, team management, and everyone else that helped along the road, for an experience that some of us never thought we’d witness, and that the town hasn’t seen in fifty one years.
Match Reports:
Brosna hold a firm grip – Not for the first time this year Brosna’s defensive strategy proved the match for a talented [read more …] “The End of our Journey”

High Speed Broadband
The government today launched its strategy to get high speed broadband into all homes in the country. Cities and towns are due to be connected by 2016 while those of us in villages and the coutryside will be left behind and the government plan is to have those in place by 2020 (state substatised). Fortunately Millstreet town will be connected, but not an inch past the town limits. No villages like Cullen, Rathcoole, Dromagh, etc will be connected. pictured right is the map of Millstreet with areas in blue being the parts that will be connected. There’s a full interactive map at broadband.gov.ie [read more …] “High Speed Broadband”

Brosna v Millstreet – looking ahead to the Munster Semi
Munster Junior Football Club Semi Final
.
Result: BROSNA 1-10 MILLSTREET 0-8
.
2pm Sunday 23rd November in Brosna
.
Support the lads. C’mon the Sráid!
.
We’ve never been in this position before, so we’d encourage everyone to get out and support the lads as Brosna at home will have a big following … and make your voices heard ! It should take most of an hour to get there [directions]. A very large crowd is expected, so go in plenty of time they are trying to park everyone in a 5 1/2 acre field at the edge of the village. (That’s going to be fun with all the recent rain). The weather looks good (8C sunshine and little wind), but bring a warm coat and hat as the pitch is it’s up on top of a hill, the stand is small, and there’s little other protection.
There’s been quite a bit in the media in advance of the game:
Collins (Tadgh) relishing chance to prove skills in border skirmish – “It’s a huge test for us to be crossing the county bounds and coming up against the Kerry champions. All involved with Millstreet are just thrilled to be [read more …] “Brosna v Millstreet – looking ahead to the Munster Semi”
