Ring out the Old, and Ring in the New
As is tradition, Millstreet Pipe Band will Ring in the New Year in the Square this evening (Wednesday December 31st) at 8pm.
It would be nice to see people come together for this … and it looks like being dry too!
Ring out, wild bells, to the wild sky,
The flying cloud, the frosty light:
The year is dying in the night;
Ring out, wild bells, and let him die. [read more …] “Ring out the Old, and Ring in the New”

An Outstanding Academic Achievement in 2014
Before the year draws to a close, Brídelle Cronin, Knocknakilla, Millstreet deserves heartfelt congratulations on her outstanding academic success during 2014 about which we recently learned. Great credit is due to Brídelle and to her inspiringly dedicated Teachers at Millstreet Community School. We also recall the many great successes which the School experienced during 2014….And who could forget the absolutely brilliant “Donna Mia” musical so beautifully presented by the wonderfully talented Transition Year Students of Millstreet Community School. Paddy Healy
With his wife Peg they raised their children at Claramore before moving to Murphy’s Terrace
The quiet man with few words to say
And sad to think that he is with the departed
With the dead of Millstreet he forever lay.
There was so much to like about in Paddy Healy
I knew him before he grew old and gray
He drunk many a pint of frothy dark porter
Without being aggressive or loud in any way.

John Kelleher’s Leprechaun
from the Paranormal Database:
John Kelleher captured a leprechaun under a rock near the summit of Mushera mountain, and agreed only to let the creature go if it gave him a purse of coins. The little man told Kelleher that if he dug where he stood, he would find the purse. Kelleher let the leprechaun go, stuck a stick in the ground to mark the position and went home to find a shovel. Returning a short time later, the man found hundreds of identical sticks all stuck in the earth around the area. (the date of this is unkown)
