The Museum in the Carnegie Hall is presently preparing for the official opening of its newly renovated setting. We expect that this will take place in late October 2013. Though established only in 1978 the museum carries an extensive range of slides, photographs, audio and video tapes of recent local events as well as a comprehensive history of the area. “Theme” exhibitions are on display several times a year. The Carnegie Hall also houses the Library, Courtrooms and Cork Co. Council local Engineers Office.
Green Glens Equestrian Centre, located adjacent to the Community School and the venue for the 1993 Eurovision Song Contest, stages the Millstreet International Horse Show in August andthe Indoor International Horse Show at the end of October each year. Contact <email>
The Town Park with its playing fields, children’s play area, cinder track and pitch and putt course, is a place in which to relax on a pleasant summer’s day.
Lakes
Coomeenatrush is just one of a number of small lakes located in the area and is one of the most accessible. A ten minute drive south of the town centre followed by a further ten minutes on foot will bring visitors to the base of the waterfall and lake.The waterfall can be spectacular following a period of heavy rain.
For the more energetic, lakes Gortavehy and Murtagh can be visited by travelling overland off the road leading to Cahirbarnagh, west of Millstreet. Kippagh lake is also accessible in the same manner following a drive from the ruins of Kilmeedy Castle. The Castle is just of the main road leading to Macroom 2.5miles from the town centre.
Wind Farms If you’ve never been to a wind farm, then it’s an amazing experience. Gneeves and Curragh wind farms are 4 miles out of town on the Macroom direction, and more being built at present.
Tubrid Well is a large holy well only a mile from the town
Drishane Castle is a 550 year old castle beside the town
St Patricks Church
Angling
The river Blackwater, flowing just two miles from the town, is famous throughout Europe for its salmon and trout fishing. Visitors can obtain, for a reasonable fee, a permit from the local angling club enabling them to fish the river.

Pitch & Putt
From the months of May to September the club in the town park welcomes visitors who may participate in weekly competitions.
Tennis and Basketball
The Youth Centre and the Community School Courts are available to visitors during the summer for tennis and basketball.
Paragliding & Hang Gliding
Millstreet is one of the popular centres for paragliding and hang-gliding enthusiasts in the South. Clara Mountain and the surrounding hills provide the meeting points for many clubs. Easter weekend usually sees the commencement of the season for gliders in Millstreet, whereas the paragliders can fly all year round with the right conditions.
Hill Walking
Clara Mountain, rising at 1000ft above the town, 1400ft above sea level) provides a spectacular view. On a clear day the lakes of Killarney can be seen. Clara is just one of many hills within easy reach of Millstreet which are ideal for mountain walking.
The route of the Blackwater Way which is a 7 day walk passes within a mile of the town.
Millstreet Gymnasium is located in the Youth Centre building close to the entrance gates of Millstreet Town Park.
Congratulations on the new look site, very professional. Would love it more if ye could include Millstreet Adult Learning Centre in it somewhere, the services and courses that we offer from Co Cork VEC.

The Gym is located in the Youth Centre building at the entrance gates of Millstreet Town Park. Not sure of present opening hours but it has not been open during the past few weeks.
Any chance of a map of the town and surrounding areas with all of the above locations shown?. Would be most helpful.
it was in my plans to integrate such a map with google maps, but i couldn’t figure it out 🙁 i don’t have time at the moment, but i’ll get to it at some stage, unless someone else is willing to spend a little time at it

Hi, how do you get to comeenatrush lake. I went up to the farm where you once used to be able to park and walk down from but it was all locked up and a ditch blocking the path down? Is there a new route down? Is it possible to go down anymore?
