SUNDAY, 19 FEBRUARY – DINNY MAHER (Tipperary Games Manager), Hurling Workshop for Youth Coaches @ Banteer Astro, 5 – 7pm. Cost €10 each.

MONDAY, 20 FEBRUARY – PAT O’SHEA (Munster Games Manager), Football Workshop for Adult Coaches @ Scoil Mhuire, Kanturk, 7:15 – 9:15pm. Cost €10 each.

MONDAY, 27 FEBRUARY – EDDIE MURPHY (ALL-IRELAND WINNING CLUB COACH), Hurling Workshop for Adult Coaches @ Millstreet GAA, 7:15-9:15pm. Cost €10 each.

MIDTERM CAMP (For Under-Age Players)
Cost is €5 per session. Where a child attends all four, the cost is €15 (one session free). Venue is Banteer Astro, but depending on weather/numbers, we may use an outdoor facility.

Open to all boys born in the year stated. Again, please actively promote within your Club. Some excellent coaching will be on offer to enhance and develop your Club players’ skills. I will contact Clubs on Wednesday, February 8 for an idea of numbers.

A stalwart defender in the gaelic football game
He was built like a tank and Tank was his nickname
He was of Clondrohid and was widely known
And in Millstreet the Club that he played for they claimed him for their own

Though back then in the early seventies he was getting old
A barrel chested giant of a man to behold
I was in my prime then as i do recall
But standing near him i did seem rather small

In Millstreet stories of Tank Driscoll abound
In his prime a stronger man than him was not to be found
One never found to be wanting when put to the test
Any forward who collided with him came out second best

A man amongst men of him one can say
He must be in his nineties if he is living today
On the train to Croke Park he was one i once met
The gentle giant Tank i will never forget.

Greyhounds: Brendan O’Shea’s homebred bitch Crossfield Reese won the final of the feature race last Saturday night at Curraheen Park. “A determined and strong stayer, she forged clear on the run to the turn and, after moving into a decisive lead down the back, she kept on well to deny Speed Lock by half a length in 28.88 – the pair a long way clear of the remainder of the field. ” – [from the Examiner]. also see the video of the race below
