Spectacular Opening Parade & Concert for World Mounted Games

The spectacular Parade marking the official opening of the World Mounted Games reminded us all of Eurovision Week 1993 such was the colourful magic of the wonderful event on Tuesday evening - 12th July 2016 - blessed with superb weather.  There is a 27minute video by Porter Wilson on YouTube.  The Parade was followed by a brilliant Liam O'Connor and his Splendid Group Concert in Green Glens.  Here we share highlights of the amazing occasion. Mounted Games World Team Championships coming to Green Glens this Summer

Mounted Games 0109_The Mounted Games World Team Championships will be held at the Green Glens Arena, Co Cork from July 11th-15th

The Mounted Games Association of Ireland (MGAI) will host the prestigious 30th annual Mounted Games World Team Championships (WTC) for 2016 in the Milstreet Green Glens Arena, Co Cork from July 11th-15th.

Mounted Games is a branch of equestrian sport in which 31 different games are played by people of all ages, on ponies up to a height of 15hh. The Games are a true test of horsemanship, skill and speed. Mounted Games is exhilarating to watch and is a spectacle at many top international shows including the Royal Windsor Horse Show, Horse of The Year Show (HOYS) and the Dublin Horse Show at the RDS.

Neil named as Judge for 2015 Longines FEI World Cup™ Jumping Finals

Neil O'Connor - formerly  of West End, now a top Showjumping judge in the USA (photo from Feb 2013)Congratulations to Neil O’Connor who has been announced as a judge for the 2015 Longines FEI World Cup™ Jumping Finals which are to be held in Las Vegas from the 15th to the 19th of April next year.

Neil O’Connor (USA) is a USEF and FEI 3* Judge and Steward and officiates regularly at national and international shows. He has served as President or Member of the Ground Jury at many prestigious U.S. shows such as the Hampton Classic, Pennsylvania National, Winter Equestrian Festival, Washington International, National Horse Show, and the inaugural 2014 Central Park Horse Show. Internationally, O’Connor has officiated at Spruce Meadows and the Royal Winter Fair, both in Canada. A native of (West End) Millstreet, County Cork Ireland, O’Connor now resides in the U.S., and ironically he was the Foreign Judge at the 2014 Dublin Horse Show. – from the Chronicle of the Horse.

The event has been a major attraction since it was launched 28 years ago (16th year in Millstreet), and this year is nothing different. Entry as ever is free, and the organisers are looking forward to seeing as many friends of the show as possible, both new & old.

This is Horse Show Week (12-17th August 2014)

2014-08-11 Millstreet International Horse Show - posterThis is Millstreet International Horse Show week and it starts today (Tuesday 12th) at 10:30am. Horse Trucks and Horseboxes have been rolling into the Green Glens since the gates opened yesterday morning.

We’d like to welcome everyone that comes to Millstreet this week, and hope you have a great time. There’s a record number of entries this year and schedules have been changing at this late stage to reflect this.

Hopefully the weather will cooperate. There’s a few showers forecast every day, but nothing too serious.

A visit to the Millstreet Horse Show is unmissable for the equestrian fanatic. Enjoy a day out watching the country’s best horses and riders. Admission is FREE and there is ample car parking available.

Our picture says it all!   All Champions on the final day of the hugely successful European Pony Championships 2014 in Millstreet.  Noel C. Duggan expresses his delight on the remarkable five day event in Millstreet where world-class equestrian facilities enormously impressed the many European Visitors. Official Launch of Charity Horse Carriage Drive from Malin to Mizen 2014

On Sunday at Green Glens, Millstreet the official launch of the upcoming Charity Horse Carriage Drive from Mizen to Malin took place.   Joanne O'Riordan is the chosen Ambassador who expressed "complete confidence in Dan Joe" as she received her first drive in the very impressive horse carriage.   Click on the images to enlarge. 2014 European Pony Championships to be held at Green Glens

36Owners Pony & Young Riders Show 2013 -800News yesterday that the Green Glens Arena in Millstreet, has won the bid to host the 2014 European Pony Championships (for Jumping, Dressage and Eventing) from 16-20 of July. Two other venues were in the running: Dzonkow (Poland), and Wiener Neustadt (Austria). The decision was made at the 2013 FEI General Assembly on 4 November 2013.
