The Organisers of the recent 1976-1981 Class Reunion were so delighted with not only the great success of the occasion itself but with the several hundreds of hits to the various images shared on our website and with the very positive comments received. One of the key Organisers, Noreen Meaney, has indicated to us that the funds of €191.02 left over after the occasion have been donated to Millstreet Community School. Principal Pat Pigott presents a portrait of Tubrid to Justin Kilcullen, Director of Trócaire at Millstreet Community School before Justin delivered his Lenten Talk entitled "Being God's Compassion in our World". Also included is Janet Twomey - Trocaire's Munster Area Organiser and Maurice Linehan who introduced Justin to the audience and was MC for the talk. Chaplain John Magee has been one of the main coordinators of the very interesting 2012 Lenten Talks which have now concluded. (S.R.)

One of the many very happy scenes at the annual World Wide Welcome event in Millstreet Community School tonight (15th March). The enthusiastic audience was given a fascinating insight into a variety of different cultures through song, dance, poetry, visual images and food. Lots more pictures to follow later. (S.R.)
The annual World Wide Welcome takes place in Millstreet Community School on this Thursday, 15th March at 7.00 pm. All are very welcome and admission is free.
The Millstreet parish series of Lenten Talks continues with the third and final one on Monday the 12th of March at Millstreet Community School Library from 8 to 9.30pm.
The third speaker is the Director of Trócaire, Mr Justin Kilcullen. His talk is entitled “Being God’s Compassion in our World”.
Justin Kilcullen was appointed Director of Trócaire in 1993 having worked for many years in Africa and Asia. Having qualified as an architect in 1975 Justin began working overseas in Tanzania before moving to Asia, specialising in the design and construction of refugee camps for Cambodian and Vietnamese refugees. He joined Trócaire in 1981 and served as Trócaire representative in Laos until 1992.
Millstreet Parish host the second of three Lenten Talks at the Millstreet Community School Library on Monday the 5th of March from 8 to 9.30pm.
The speaker on this occasion will be Dr Patricia Kieran, Department of Education, Mary Immaculate College, Limerick. Her talk is entitled “Compassion, Faith and the Family“.
Her teaching areas are: Religious Education, Church, Feminist Theology, World Religions. Her research interests are: Multi-faith Religious Education (R.E.); teaching world religions in Catholic schools; inter-denominational education; Catholic religious education in Ireland; R.E. and gender; and theology and R.E.

D.J. Golden as MC at the first of three Lenten Talks welcomes Fr. Peter McVerry to Millstreet Community School. Also included are four Students from the School. Fr. Peter delivered a most inspiring, uplifting and interesting lecture on the theme of Jesus, the Compassionate One. The second talk is on Monday, 5th March at 8 p.m. and will be given by Dr. Patricia Kieran, Dept. of Ed., Mary Immaculate College, Limerick on "Compassion, Faith and the Family". (S.R.)
Millstreet Parish have organised a series of three talks to mark the season of Lent. They will take place on Monday nights in Millstreet Community School library at 8pm, beginning on 27th February. The overall theme of the talks is ‘Compassion’ and they will be delivered by three highly regarded speakers, Fr. Peter McVerry SJ, Dr. Patricia Kieran, and Mr. Justin Kilcullen. Each talk will conclude with the chance to ask questions and some light refreshments.The first talk will take place on Monday 27th February. Fr. Peter McVerry SJ will speak about ‘Jesus the Compassionate One’.
Fr. McVerry grew up in Newry, Co. Down. In 1962, he entered the Jesuit Order and was ordained in 1975. He worked as a priest in the Inner City in Dublin from 1975 to 1980 and there he encountered some homeless children. He opened a hostel for homeless children in 1979 and this subsequently became his life-time work. He moved to Ballymun in 1980 and continue reading…
