Blessed with truly beautiful weather, a superbly colourful display of magnificent Easter Bonnets by the children of Presentation N.S., Millstreet enchanted many people on Thursday, 29th March 2012 who were privileged to witness the children (with their teachers) on a special Easter Parade through the town from their School in West End to Supervalu in Minor Row. We are presently preparing a selection of images from the splendid annual event and these will gradually be uploaded on our website over the next few days. Here we view the overall group having visited Supervalu. We wish the children and their teachers a very Happy Easter Holiday. Paul Walsh gives away a TRTÉ hoodie to Millstreet Community School student Maura Buckley at the BT Young Scientist and Technology exhibition on Friday Jan 13th in the RDS Dublin.

Last November Millstreet Community School submitted four projects to the BT Young Scientist Competition, and all four we accepted. It is on this week in the RDS in Dublin.

Joanne O’Riordan and Nadine Spillane were pictured on the RTE news yesterday (Jan 12th) at the stand for their project s “No Limbs, No Limits”, while Joanne was interviewed by Ryan Tubridy on his radio programme on RTE, and discussed their project. Tubridy introduced her with: “… one of my favourite people I met in recent times, the very wonderful Joanne O’Riordan“. Here is the audio:

Results – Highly Commended: One of Millstreet Community School’s other projects at the Young Scientist were highly commended in the Social and Behavioral Sciences (Intermediate) section. An absolutely delightful Christmas Play with a fourth Wise Man received its premiere in Cloghoula N.S. on Wednesday, 21st Dec. 2011 before a hugely appreciative audience. We shall be featuring a very brief sequence from the performance on LTV2 on Christmas Day in the 11.30pm to midnight slot. Also included here with the pupils are Teacher Leo McCarthy and Principal Mary Murphy. (S.R.)

Millstreet Community School are collecting used ink cartridges (from all types of printers) and old mobile phones for charity at the school. If anybody has any of the above, they can be dropped into the Community School. All funds raised are for the cancer appeal in the Mercy Hospital.

One of the many wonderfully charming scenes during a Nativity Play by the Junior Section of Presentation N.S., Millstreet at the G.A.A. Community Hall on Monday, 5th Dec. 2011. With a capacity audience of enthusiastic parents and friends the happy occasion was recorded on video by Pat O'Hara and Brendan Murphy. (S.R.)

Millstreet Community School T.Y. Drama Group will present the hilarious comedy “It runs in the family”, a two act play guaranteed to banish those winter blues! The cast, backroom team and producers Jennifer O’Donoghue and Margaret Buckley have put in a big effort so come out and give your support to the stars of the future (and the present) to what promises to be a great night out. OUT OF  1743 PROJECTS ENTERED INTO THE BT YOUNG SCIENTIST AND TECHNOLOGY COMPETITION, 550 WERE CHOSEN AND ALL OF MILLSTREET COMMUNITY SCHOOL‘S ENTRIES MADE IT TO THE FINAL.
