Joanne O’Riordan and Nadine Spillane were pictured on the RTE news yesterday (Jan 12th) at the stand for their project s “No Limbs, No Limits”, while Joanne was interviewed by Ryan Tubridy on his radio programme on RTE, and discussed their project. Tubridy introduced her with: “… one of my favourite people I met in recent times, the very wonderful Joanne O’Riordan“. Here is the audio:

Results – Highly Commended: One of Millstreet Community School’s other projects at the Young Scientist were highly commended in the Social and Behavioral Sciences (Intermediate) section. They were Shane Dineen, Colm Barrett, Andrew Roche, with their project: Improving access to roads and services during severe winter months in the Millstreet area: A spatial network analysis approach, Millstreet Community School;

ONE HUNDRED PER CENT SUCCESSS

OUT OF  1743 PROJECTS ENTERED INTO THE BT YOUNG SCIENTIST AND TECHNOLOGY COMPETITION, 550 WERE CHOSEN AND ALL OF MILLSTREET COMMUNITY SCHOOL‘S ENTRIES MADE IT TO THE FINAL.

a)      Does Government legislature disable rural social patterns?

“We hope to find out if Government laws affect people in rural areas more than in urban areas.”

b)      The impact the economic decline has on behavioural patterns.

c)       Improving access to roads and services during severe winter months in the Millstreet area-

“We hope to examine the government road gritting system and consider possible alternatives using spatial analysis software.”

On Monday, 3rd Oct. 2011 Trish Gallagher visited Millstreet Community School accompanied by members of her family including her mother, Mrs. O’Connor and friends.   Having communicated so very well with the various students who posed some very relevant and comprehensive questions on the Presidency she was presented with a bouquet of flowers while sister-in-law, Eileen, was presented with a gift.  (S.R.)

Superb style in evidence as the group photograph is taken at the Wallis Arms Hotel, Millstreet on Thursday, 4th August 2011 in advance of leaving for the Debs Ball at Rochestown Park Hotel, Cork.
