Millstreet Development Group and Millstreet Community Council would like to announce that the Cork 20 Rally will be headquartered in Millstreet for the next two years.
Due to the initiative of some members of Millstreet Development Group and with the cooperation of Millstreet Community Council this announcement is possible. When the management of the Munster Car Club were approached about headquartering the Rally in Millstreet they gave it their full attention and eventually gave the nod to Millstreet against keen competition. In the negotiations Millstreet had one “ace” that would be hard to beat, namely the outstanding facilities at the Green Glens Arena and the enthusiasm of the Duggan family to see the rally come to Millstreet.
Millstreet is certainly no stranger to rallying. One has only to cast their minds back to the 70’s and 80’s when Billy Coleman and Gerard Buckley dominated rallying nationally and internationally. In that time Coleman won six Cork 20’s and Buckley won five.
Also Millstreet lies smack in the middle of the best rallying countryside in Ireland and in previous years it hosted stages of the Cork 20, Rally of the Lakes and Circuit of Ireland which Coleman won three times.
The rally will take place in 2013 on Oct 5th and 6th. Over the two days competitors will travel about 280km on up to 14 stages. We expect about 120 competing teams of which 12 to 15 will be W.R.C professional cars. Apart from the 5/600 members of backup teams and continue reading…

Millstreet Development Group today launched a new E Centre initiative which will be opening later in the autumn as a facility to support local start-up and growing businesses in Millstreet and the surrounding region.
Áine Collins TD was instrumental in bringing the idea of an E-Centre to Millstreet Development Group who were anxious to find a way to support and grow businesses in the area.
The idea of the E-Centre is driven by the Cork County Council Economic Development Group chaired by Councilor Gerard Murphy. Ger Power, Head of Finance for CCC said that he was delighted to launch E-Millstreet and paid tribute to the team at E-Macroom who were actively engaged on the project. There has been a change of plan for the walk up Clara and blessing of the new cross, which had been scheduled for this Friday evening (July 20th @ 5pm). The walk is going ahead but only to the viewing point as the weather has left the path to the cross in bad condition. (Update: The walk has now been cancelled also). The cross will be blessed on another occasion. It would be great to see everyone on the walk anyway. Registration as planned in the GAA hall at 4.30. Refreshments afterwards. – from the Millstreet Development-Group
Also, check out the new Brochure / Map for the Clara Loop Walk.
