Millstreet Pipe Band 60th Anniversary Function – An Outstanding Success

Liam Coffey & Tim O'Shea cut the special Millstreet Pipe Band 60th Anniversary Cake at the hugely successful Function held at the Dromhall Hotel, Killarney on Saturday, 26th March 2011. Tim and Liam are the two longest serving members of the renowned Band. Lots more pictures to follow later.

Contract Signed for St. Patrick’s Church Painting Project

On Wednesday, 23rd March 2011 at Millstreet's Parish Centre the contract for the forthcoming Painting of St. Patrick's Church, Millstreet was officially signed. Carriganima St. Patrick’s Parade on this Sunday

Participants at St. Patrick's Day Parade in Millstreet on 17th March. Tomorrow, Sunday 20th March 2011 sees the beginning of the Carriganima Parade from 1.30 p.m. with our good Friends in this picture also joining in that special Parade organised mainly by Seán Murphy and Matthew Neville. Herlihy Supermarket Group has been named as one of Ireland’s ‘Best Managed’ companies in the Deloitte Best Managed Companies Awards Programme. In total, twenty companies which demonstrated superior business performance were recognised at a gala awards dinner in the Burlington Hotel in Dublin on 4th March 2011. The independent judging panel, chaired by Denis Brosnan, reviewed a broad range of criteria including strategy, capability, commitment, financials and growth potential across all key functions of the business.

Herlihy Supermarket Group is made up of 6 Centra Stores in the Cork area. Its business is grocery retail with particular focus on convenience and fresh food. The stores have on site kitchens and scratch bakeries.

Herlihy Supermarket Group employs over 230 staff and is owned and managed by the Herlihy family who have been in business since 1980.

Talented Musicians Participate in St. Patrick’s Vigil Mass on 16th March 2011

The superbly talented Millstreet Group who have reached the County Scór na bPáistí Competition in April 2011. They were among the many other splendid musicians who participated in the St. Patrick's Vigil Mass tonight at St. Patrick's Church, Millstreet.

Women’s Dressmaking Group

The Employment and Training Working Group is proposing to develop a Women’s Dressmaking Group with the aim that participants will enjoy the sense of achievement in creating a tailored garment for their own personal body shape. Introductory demonstrations will be given. Step by Step guidance will be provided on the pattern, fabric, cutting, sewing, fitting and finishing and each participant will create an A-line skirt from commencement to finish. Names are now being sought from the public to determine interest in such a training course. If you are interested or would like more information please contact Mary McHugh at 029 60633.

Victory Parade for Áine Collins, T.D. at 7 p.m.

Áine is deemed Elected at the Macroom Count Centre

Beginning at Michael O’Sullivan’s in Drishane Road,  Millstreet this evening at 7.00 a Victory Parade honouring the newly elected Fine Gael T.D. , Deputy Áine Collins will take place.   Speakers will make an address at the Monument in the Square and the Parade will also travel to West End.   All are very welcome.   We extend heartfelt congratulations to Áine, to Michael Creed and to Michael Moynihan on being elected to the new Dáil.

It was my privilege to be part of a community celebration on Saturday night in Green Glens, Millstreet. The celebration marked many years of contribution by Sean Radley to his local community and beyond. He is a man who has done endless small things with great love and will continue to do so for many more years. Sean’s contribution to his local community is beyond measure. No money could buy his contribution to education, local television, local radio and his unique ability to make every person feel special.
