This weekend, Saturday 12th & Sunday 13th May, there is a big Garage Sale in Shanaknuck, Millstreet (near the train station). Times are Saturday 10am-4pm, and Sunday 10am-4pm. Items include furniture, books, crockery, some catering stuff, tools, bric-a-brac, must go as seriously downsizing!
There will be a public meeting in Millstreet GAA Hall next Monday night 14th May at 8pm, where a talk will be given on the upcoming referendum of the EU Fiscal Treaty, household charges, septic tank charges, and water charges. All are welcome.

Saturday 12th May is Sustainable Gardening Day at The Secret Garden. Come along between 1 – 5pm and you will find a selection of demonstrators and information on everything you need to know to make your garden more healthy and efficient:
* Composting. We’ll be joined by Donal O’Leary from Waste Down and Master Composters (yes, they really are called that) from Stopfoodwaste.ie who will be deomstrating how to make your own compost both with compost bins and wormeries. Donal will be selling wormeries on the day, plus Cork County Council have kindly sponsored a wormery for a free prize draw.
* Organic Gardening – Kitty Scully from RTE’s ‘How to Create a Garden’ will be on hand to answer questions and will be doing demonstrations at 1.30, 2.30 and 3.30 in the veg garden. Kitty has boundless energy and enthusiasm and a wealth of knowledge so this is a great opportunity to learn from an expert.

I have fought with my weight for years, this year I am winning the battle with the help of jogging and running. I started at 18st 8.5lbs on the 1st of January. I decided this was going to be my year and started jogging and eating healthy from the 1st January. Today I am 15st 9lbs. I am only 1/3 of the way of my journey but I am totally committed and motivated. I have signed up for the Dublin run in april, limerick in May and the half marathon in cork in June. Most accidents happen at home! Would you know what to do? Our two and a half hour classes focus on first aid needs for children in an informal setting. Includes CPR and what to do if a child/baby is choking.
