As you well know, peoples reasons for living in the countyside are many and varied including being born and reared there or made a deliberate decision to move, people tend to associate living in the country with having a better environment, more space, being more relaxed and possibly being safer, while these facts to a large extend are true country life does not always live up to its perceived idyllic image and there can be many associated difficulties with [read more …] “Let’s Talk & Walk on Sunday 25th May in Newmarket”
We thank Margaret Buckley for sharing one of the comments expressed during current canvassing for the Local Election:“On the canvass recently, I came across complaints of dog-fouling on the pavements around the town. One person in particular was fulsome in her praise of the beauty of the town and its environs but found it off-putting to come across dog poo on the pavements. Now that the summer months are here, more people will be out exercising. This is a gentle reminder that we should all take responsibility for our dogs and their leavings. Remember, the pavements are for everybody… Kind regards, Margaret Buckley.” (S.R.)

Hi, my name is Pat O Riordan and I hail from Curraraigue and I am now living in Leap near Skibbereen. My mother Mai Mullane now diseased came from Ardnageeha Cullen. I am doing some research on the family. My uncle Con Mullane owned the land on which a doctor’s house and Dispensary was built.
I am wondering if there is any information available on when it was built, The names of the Doctors who worked there. I would appreciate any information or perhaps where I might be able to find information on the house a and the dispensary.
Kind regards, Pat O Riordan

I am hoping you can help me. I was really pleased to find your community website as I am trying to find information regarding a Patrick Byrne who came from Millstreet, Cork. During the late 1930s, early 1940s he worked in London as a builders labourer. I understand he had a family in Millstreet. Frustratingly this is all the information I have, I am doing this research on behalf of my mother and it is important to her to find out what became of him. Would it be possible to post a message on your website to see if it means anything at all to any descendants of any Byrne families?
Many thanks and kind regards, Sharon Lees <email>
