Comhgháirdeas to all at the Scór na nÓg County Finals held last night (December 29th) in Ovens. Prizewinners on the night from Millstreet were:

  • in the Amhránaíocht Aonar (solo singing), Muireann Buckley came second, and
  • in the Bailéad Ghrúpa, the Millstreet Ballad group also finished second.

One of the many wonderfully charming scenes during a Nativity Play by the Junior Section of Presentation N.S., Millstreet at the G.A.A. Community Hall on Monday, 5th Dec. 2011. With a capacity audience of enthusiastic parents and friends the happy occasion was recorded on video by Pat O'Hara and Brendan Murphy. (S.R.)

A set of dancers from Millstreet and Kerry grouped together to perform as Rinceoirí na Luachra on the TG4′s Irish dancing programme An Jig Gig a few weeks ago. They didn’t qualify on the night, but they did put in a good performance. continue reading…

Millstreet took part in the Duhallow Scor na nOg finals held in Kanturk on Saturday night and among the winners were a Ballad Group made up of Muireann Buckley, Sarah Dennehy, Nadine Spillane, Leanne Smith and Bridelle Cronin. They sang The Boys of Barr na Sraide & Where the Blarney Roses Grow. Muireann Buckley also took 1st in the solo singing with Isle of Hope. In the Quiztime Niall Murphy, Bill Kelleher and Padraig Moynihan took the runners up spot. Midwest Radio Presenter Supreme, Michael Commins (and Journalist par excellence in the “Farmers Journal”) has been presenting the Annual Michael Commins Country & Western Shows in Galway with phenomenal success.   And there is a wonderful opportunity to attend the Monday Show for fans of that ever popular musical genre.

There is a fabulous line-up again this year for the Monday night Show that includes Big Tom McBride, Foster & Allen, Crystal Swing, Matt Keane, John Glenn, Gene Stuart, Sam O’Doherty, P.J. Murrihy, Nan Tom, Matt Cunningham, Jacqui Sharkey, Bernadette Ruddy, Jason Travers, John Kelly, Gerry Walsh and Donncha O’Dúlaing (RTÉ).

A bus leaves Cullen at 4.00 p.m. on this Monday evening (7th November 2011) and arrives in the Square, Millstreet at 4.15 p.m..   Then onwards to the Salthill Hotel in Galway for this truly magnificent Musical Show.   Entry is €30.00 and for enquiries regarding the cost of the return bus journey please contact Kealy’s Coaches, Cullen on 087-799 4045.
