Some of the many people who attended tonight's superb Millstreet Gramophone Circle presentation by Michael Drew, Boherbue (on extreme right).  It was Michael's first presentation and it was a tremendous success enjoyed by a capacity audience including young Daniel and James from Ballinatona, Millstreet.

It was Michael’s first presentation and it was a tremendous success enjoyed by a capacity audience which included young Daniel and James from Ballinatona, Millstreet.  The next meeting which will take place on Friday, 19th April at 8.15 pm in the Canon O’Donovan Centre will be given by Margaret McCarron, Bandon (nee O’Donoghue, Cullen) – pictured fourth from left.  My job as DJ was made so much easier tonight because Michael had edited his complete programme in just two discs.   Because of the generosity of those present to our usual Draw we shall be making a contribution to the Daffodil Day local organisers.   (S.R.)

"Listeners' Choice"  Programme

Margaret McCarron (Bandon and Cullen)

Margaret McCarron (Bandon and Cullen seen seated here) presented an exquisite selection of music and song on a Christmas theme to a large audience at tonight’s meeting of Millstreet Gramophone Circle in the Canon O’Donovan Centre.    The late Maura Cronin of Cullen who was such a supremely dedicated member of the group was remembered in a moving number of tributes from such members as Maurice Linehan, Nora Burke and Margaret McCarron.   Pictured here, from left – Maura Sheehan, Boherbue who will be presenting her selection for our 18th January 2013 meeting;   Eithne O’Keeffe, Boherbue who gave such a superb presentation at our November 2012 meeting;  Pat McCarron, Bandon and Nora Burke, Kanturk.   (S.R.)

Con Kelleher’s superb presentation at Millstreet Gramophone on Friday night (21st Sept.) was thoroughly enjoyed by the very fine attendance on National Culture Night.   Con’s well researched introductions to each musical selection impressed all.   Here we see Con with Maura Cronin of Cullen who will be giving the next Gramophone Circle presentation on Friday, 19th October 2012 in the Canon O’Donovan Centre at 8.15 p.m..   (S.R.)

Friday, 21st September 2012 is National Culture Night in Ireland.   Millstreet marks this occasion in the Canon O’Donovan Centre at 8.15pm when Con Kelleher, Cloghoulabeg will present a splendid programme of wonderful music at our monthly Gramophone Circle presentation.   Admission is free.   We hold a draw at the interval.   All are very welcome.   (S.R.)

In Cullen Pipe Band Hall there will be music performed by the Irish Piobaireachd Society and the Cullen Pipe Band. There will also be a trad session with local musicians, singers, dancers, poetry and all rounded off with a cupán tae.
