Goals win games and it was certainly the case today as Goleen scored goals at crucial times to proceed to the quarter final of the Junior B Football County Championship. The first half was tit-for-tat as both sides knocked over some nice points, but both sides were guilty of a number of missed opportunities also. St.Johns were better and faster on the ball, moving it quickly for some fine scores, yet were playing too much of the game out the field and not getting close to the goal often enough. Congratulations to John F. Kelleher, Aubane on his graudation at the Meadowlands Hotel in Tralee on Friday 27 May, with a Certificate in Healthcare.

The Corkman carries an article this week on the Cork Junior Team 2011, who have Niall Kelleher from Aubane is in charge again this year.

Cork had won three AllIreland titles in this period (2005, 2007 and 2009), and it was obviously disappointing for Kelleher that they should falter at the first hurdle under his stewardship 12 months ago.

Cork will play Clare in the Munster Junior Football Championship Quarter-Final on Sunday May 22nd at 1:30pm in Pairc Ui Chaoimh
