MonsterMAC 2012 – Millstreet Country Park – Saturday 28th April – 10 a.m.

There are three levels of race this year with the inclusion of Ireland’s shortest adventure race for all participants over age 16 eligible to enter.

And if getting fit is one of your 2012 ambitions, like most people starting out for the first time, you’ll need a plan, some support and a few targets like the MonsterMAC challenge.

BabyMAC is part of the now popular MonsterMAC Adventure Challenge www.monstermac.ie offering an ideal distance for a beginner fitness enthusiast with a 3.5km run, 16km cycle and 400m kayak around a crannog lake. You’ll need your own bike and helmet, but the kayaks and compulsory buoyancy aids are provided and many of last year’s participants couldn’t kayak or swim! And you can meet with the more experienced athletes doing the longer distances that day – i.e. BigMAC and MonsterMAC. continue reading…

Everyone looks on as Neily Corkery floats one over from the wing

Goals win games and it was certainly the case today as Goleen scored goals at crucial times to proceed to the quarter final of the Junior B Football County Championship. The first half was tit-for-tat as both sides knocked over some nice points, but both sides were guilty of a number of missed opportunities also. St.Johns were better and faster on the ball, moving it quickly for some fine scores, yet were playing too much of the game out the field and not getting close to the goal often enough. Goleen seemed stronger around the middle of  the field and caused lots of problems when they ran directly at the St.Johns defence. It was an entertaining first half with Johns leading 0-5 to 0-4 at the break, and all to play for in the second half. continue reading…
