Fantastic Summer of Dancing at Mushera Platform for 2018

The Final Dance of the Summer finished up last Sunday Evening at Mushera Platform with a great Crowd in attendance as they danced the Evening away to the Sound of Peter Lane in perfect weather conditions. It was a great Season Finale to close out a fantastic Summer of entertainment at the Mushera Platform for 2018. A huge tank you to each and everyone who supported the dancing all the year and many thanks also to all the bands who gave us such great entertainment to keep this tradition alive. All of this wouldn’t fall into place on the day only for our wonderful Committee which we are so grateful to have. Looking forward to 2019 P.G.

A Fleadh to Remember for Leah

Leah Murphy from Laught had some weekend at the Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann in Drogheda. Firstly on Saturday she was part of the mighty Crossfield Ceili Band that won first place in the U18 Céili Band competition (Marie O’Neill, Anna Buckley, Darragh Twomey, Aubane, were also members of the band). Then on to Sunday, and with three solo competitions to play in, she got placed in all three!! 2nd place in Fiddle Slow Airs,  2nd place in English Singing, and 3rd place in Rogha Ghléas. Mighty going , we’re delighted and so proud  🎶 🎻 👍 😀 😀

Butter Road on “Where the Road Takes me” on C103 at 7pm Sunday

We thank Presenter John Greene for advance information on this Sunday evening’s programme – 13th May 2018.  (S.R.)

Two hundred and seventy years ago in 1748, and almost to the day, a fifty
six mile straight road was opened between Killarney and Cork.

Although being awarded the contract for it, John Murphy from Castleisland had to raise his own finance, in the hope that he would recoup it all by making it a toll road. But the road brought financial ruin for Murphy, resulting in debts of over four thousand pounds. Nobody knows for certain what happened to him afterwards..

In a two part programme on Where the road takes me……. [read more …] “Butter Road on “Where the Road Takes me” on C103 at 7pm Sunday”
