Herlihy Supermarket Group announced as one of Ireland’s 20 Best Managed Companies!
Herlihy Supermarket Group has been named as one of Ireland’s ‘Best Managed’ companies in the Deloitte Best Managed Companies Awards Programme. In total, twenty companies which demonstrated superior business performance were recognised at a gala awards dinner in the Burlington Hotel in Dublin on 4th March 2011. The independent judging panel, chaired by Denis Brosnan, reviewed a broad range of criteria including strategy, capability, commitment, financials and growth potential across all key functions of the business.
Herlihy Supermarket Group is made up of 6 Centra Stores in the Cork area. Its business is grocery retail with particular focus on convenience and fresh food. The stores have on site kitchens and scratch bakeries.
Herlihy Supermarket Group employs over 230 staff and is owned and managed by the Herlihy family who have been in business since 1980.

The Employment and Training Working Group is proposing to develop a Women’s Dressmaking Group with the aim that participants will enjoy the sense of achievement in creating a tailored garment for their own personal body shape. Introductory demonstrations will be given. Step by Step guidance will be provided on the pattern, fabric, cutting, sewing, fitting and finishing and each participant will create an A-line skirt from commencement to finish. Names are now being sought from the public to determine interest in such a training course. If you are interested or would like more information please contact Mary McHugh at 029 60633.
Beginning at Michael O’Sullivan’s in Drishane Road, Millstreet this evening at 7.00 a Victory Parade honouring the newly elected Fine Gael T.D. , Deputy Áine Collins will take place. Speakers will make an address at the Monument in the Square and the Parade will also travel to West End. All are very welcome. We extend heartfelt congratulations to Áine, to Michael Creed and to Michael Moynihan on being elected to the new Dáil.

And on LTV2 in the near future we shall be transmitting highlights of “Up for the Match in Meelin” which we recorded at Meelin Community Centre last night in advance of their All-Ireland appearance in Croke Park on tomorrow, Sunday with the historic game beginning at 2.00 p.m.. Superbly dedicated Reporter and Photographer, John Tarrant has been providing splendid updates on Meelin’s huge successes and will, undoubtedly, provide excellent coverage of the All-Ireland event. We all wish the mighty Meelin Team every success in this very significant milestone of Meelin G.A.A..
