Wonderfully Successful Community Hike of Clara Mountain Today

Under the umbrella (although no umbrellas were needed today as the weather was superb!!) of Millstreet Culture & Wellbeing Association and Millstreet Community Gym – a very successful Community Hike of Clara Mountain took place at 11am this Saturday, 17th Sept. 2022 during which a wonderfully energetic group of people participated.   Here we share images from the special event.  Tap on the pictures to enlarge.  (S.R.)

We thank Pat and John Randles for this much appreciated image recorded when the Group arrived at Clara’s summit.

Getting Out and About

Elizabeth sent us a little positivity this week with this view of Millstreet from Clara Mountain as many locals got out and enjoyed beautiful fresh air. A great way to lift the spirits in these days of social isolation which we are all asked to adhere to. It helps no end that the weather seems to have turned and though cool, little rain is forecast for the next week.

As well as the most popular up and down Clara, here in Millstreet we also have  the Clara Loop, Mushera, Comeenatrush, The Duhallow Way (east to west), the Ireland Way (north to south), for the more adventurous, but lots of other areas to walk where it is gentle and safe, like the Town Park, Drishane Road, the Boeing, Tubrid, Donoure, St. John’s Well.

IRD DUHALLOW also have details on a number of walkways in our area:  [read more …] “Getting Out and About”

Noel C. Climbs Clara Mountain on Sunday

To conquer Clara Mountain in one’s 60s is a mighty achievement but to climb Clara Mountain in one’s 80’s is quite magnificent . Well, that’s what Noel C. Duggan did last Sunday. Here he is pictured on the summit beside the Cross with June and Kevin Lucey while below he is photographed on Monday as he continues to work on his Shop Refubishment Project at The Bridge, Millstreet.  The previous time Noel C. was on Clara Mountain was in Eurovision Year 1993 when National Geographic Magazine featured him on a horse on top of the mountain (below)!  Click on the images to enlarge. We thank June Lucey for the Clara picture. (S.R.)
