We thank Sr. Kathleen Given of the Presentation Order who has resided at St. Joseph’s Gardens, Millstreet for the past fourteen years and who has truly enhanced our Millstreet Community through her great kindness, wonderfully uplifting approach to life and sincere concern for all with whom she met. Sr. Kathleen has been the perfect example of the true spirit of the Foundress of the Presentation Sisters Order – Nano Nagle. We extend sincere best wishes and blessings for the future. (S.R.) Sr. Kathleen shares the following message of appreciation and heartfelt thanks:
“Dear People of Millstreet, I bid you a fond farewell. I wish that I could have given a personal farewell to all those of you I got to know while living in Millstreet for fourteen years. I was hoping to have spent four more years which would have brought me up to ninety. But my energy has been declining for the past twelve months or more. I found Millstreet to be a very welcoming town. I felt so much at home – I could have been born and reared there! The Active Retirement Group helped me greatly in my first years when I knew nobody. I also appreciated all the Friends I made at Daily Mass, the Friends I met in the Canon O’Donovan Millstreet Day Centre and who stopped to have a chat whenever we met in town. I also loved visiting the local Community Hospital. I shall very much miss my many Friends there. And, of course, a great big Thank You to All at St. Joseph’s Gardens. You were great neighbours.
I am very fortunate that Castleisland Presentation Convent had room for me. I am number seven here now. Five of our Kerry Convents have closed down. That is why Sr. Eileen and I ended up in St. Joseph’s Gardens. Thank you all for the very happy years I have spent in Millstreet. God reward you all…..Sr. Kathleen Given. “
