Traditional Music Special on Tonight’s “Radio Treasures” on CMS

“Radio Treasures” on Cork Music Station at 9:30 to 11:00 Tonight

Our 10pm feature tonight on “Radio Treasures” on Cork Music Station  (Tues. 11th Sept. 2018) recalls Michael Linehan’s 70th Birthday which took place in Scartaglin on last Saturday night. We also hear the superb pipe music as played by Con Houlihan of Cullen Pipe Band as he piped Michael into the three Bars in Scartaglin – O’Connor’s, Lyons’s and Fleming’s. We reflect on the very successful Autumn Vintage Car Run of last Sunday. We chat about our 1940s  historic photos of Millstreet Boys’ Secondary School. And we travel to Gneeves Wind Farm in the company of Patrick W. O’Leary, Kentucky, USA and Brendan Murphy, Millstreet.

“Radio Treasures” on CMS Visits 1951 Tonight at 10pm

Papal Visit to Croke Park on “Radio Treasures” Tonight 9:30 to 11:00

Thanks to the magnificent kindness of Caroline, Martina, Joan and the Cashman Family of Tullig and Ratoath, Co. Memories of Eurovision 1993 on “Radio Treasures” Tuesday 9:30 to 11:00pm

“Radio Treasures” on Thursday This Week 9:30 – 11:00 pm

We thank Michael O’Leary and Elwood from Louisville, Kentucky, USA for the presentation of this truly magnificent book outlining in brilliant colour the history of the world famous race which takes place annually on the first Sat. in May – So this year it’s on Sat. 5th May 2018. This beautiful book plus a very fine Tee Shirt will be displayed in Millstreet Museum.

“Radio Treasures” this week is being broadcast on Thursday, 3rd May 2018 from 9:30 to 11:00 pm.  We feature our usual mixture of cheerful songs, music and musings.   And, of course, being the start of Summer (!) we include Canon Sydney McEwan’s “Bring Flowers of the Fairest” plus some special Showband Favourites.   We hope also to feature the official launch recordings of Killarney’s “Nathan’s Walk” supporting Darkness into Light for Pieta House….This special item will be transmitted at 10pm.  And we chat about the background to the pictures below.  Click on the images to enlarge. Banteer’s Glen Theatre Drama Group will present their magnificent production of “It Runs in the Family” at Dublin’s Olympia Theatre on Thurs. 3rd May 2018 and at the Market Place Theatre in Armagh City on Sat. 5th May. Every success to the superbly talented Drama Group.

What a pleasant surprise in the post this morning! “Comhnasc” is the national Journal of the Retired Teachers of Ireland. The Photographer with a powerful telephoto lens captured us as we attened the recent Annual Convention in Dublin’s Gresham Hotel. The response has been quite uplifting!

Rescheduled “Radio Treasures” on Cork Music Station Thursday from 9:00 to 11:00pm

Due to the fact that Broadband Coverage was not available in our Millstreet Studio last night (Tuesday) we were not able to broadcast “Radio Treasures” as scheduled.  William Fitzgerald kindly transmitted his own Thursday Show instead.   Consequently “Radio Treasures” will this week be broadcast this Thursday (25th Jan. 2018) from 9 to 11pm (an extra half-hour bonus!)…Seán R.

Tomorrow (Thursday, 25th Jan. 2018)….We feature the very best of music and song  and we have a selection of musings of a wide and interesting variety.  We reflect on last Friday’s Millstreet Gramophone Circle and on Sunday’s Vintage Event.  We talk about Killarney House which has recently been superbly renovated.

Lots of uplifting response to last night’s “Radio Treasures” on Cork Music Station (Internet Radio) presented by S.R..   Eamonn Duggan reminded us during the programme of his truly superb feature relating to Gougane Barra in this week’s “Ireland’s Own”.   One of our wonderfully loyal weekly Listeners – Patrick W. O’Leary who usually tunes into the Show from Louisville, Kentucky, USA was this week tuning in from the Wallis Arms Hotel in Millstreet as he is presently taking his annual holiday in Ireland – predominantly in Millstreet.   Next Tuesday’s programme is extra special as it recalls our recent visit to Maastricht in the Netherlands to attend the magnificent Open Air Concert of the renowned André Rieu.   This wonderful package trip was organised by Pádraig O’Driscoll Travel in Macroom.   The photograph below was recorded on the very night in July when we attended the Concert.  It was great to have such close access to the actual stage where André and his Johann Strauss Orchestra performed the magnificent Concert.
