Help with 1962/63 School Photo

Many thanks to Brendan Cronin now of Carrigtwohill who sent us this photo that was taken in Millstreet Presentation Convent National School in or around 1962/63. Brendan says that he “has done his best to put names to faces, but there are many blanks.  Perhaps some of my old school mates would be able to identify the boys and girls in that photo”.
If you can help, leave a comment below, or send a message to us at <email>

Birthday Celebrations at Millstreet Day Care Centre on Wednesday

We were delighted to record three wonderful Birthday Celebrations at Millstreet Day Care Centre today.  Coordinator Mary Feeley introduced us to Julia Murphy who is celebrating her 104th Birthday and who sang for us all a beautiful rendition of “My Donegal Shore” without even having to use glasses when referring to the words of the song!  Joining Julia was Kathleen Moynihan and Peg Tarrant.   A very Happy Birthday to all three splendid ladies.   Adding to the occasion there was a superb musical presentation by pupils from Presentation N.S., Millstreet.   A cheque of €500.00 was also presented to the Centre by the Pupils and Teacher Nora Murphy as the result of a recent Bake Cake Sale at the School.   Click on the images to enlarge.  (S.R.) Truly Magnificent Abbey Theatre Monologue Play at Presentation N.S.

The Community and Education Department of the Abbey Theatre together with Baboró,  presented  “Me, Mollser” – a specially commissioned monologue play which introduces “The Plough and the Stars” by Seán O’ Casey to a younger audience by telling the story of the Easter Rising 1916 through the magical power of a performance and workshop. This Thursday (28th Jan. 2016) morning at Presentation N.S., Millstreet 5th & 6th Class pupils from the Presentation N.S., Scoil Mhuire B.N.S. and Cloghoula N.S. experienced this absolutely brilliant production and workshop.  It was a true privilege to have been in attendance.  (S.R.)
