Launched at Millstreet Christmas Market on Sunday 27th Nov. 2016 the magnificent Millstreet Calendar 2017 produced by Millstreet Community Council and coordinated by Justin Black of Justborn Photography, West End, Millstreet – is this year in support of Millstreet Pipe Band and Millstreet Mens’ Shed. It costs €5.00 and is an ideal Christmas gift enhancing your overall Christmas Giving. The wonderfully colourful Calendar features the photography of a range of creative Photographers including Justin Black, Geraldine Dennehy, Pat Golden, John Tarrant and Seán Radley. We encourage you to buy many to send to your relatives and friends at home and abroad. Click on the images to enlarge. (S.R.)
On behalf of Millstreet Community Council, I would like to thank all those involved in the production of the Millstreet Calendar 2016. We appreciate the photos that were supplied by all the local photographers that made the final cut for this year’s print. I would like to thank Justin for his design work and his prints that made the calendar so amazing and memorable. Great credit is due to members of the Community Council for distributing the calendars to sellers and also to the members of the community/shops/businesses who displayed and sold the issues. Without this support, this venture would not be sustainable. A special work of thanks goes to Katelyn, Lydia and Christian Murphy who help every year with selling the calendars at the Christmas market. There were more than 600 calendars sold in total and this year’s proceeds go towards the upkeep and maintenance of our newly furbished Gym. To conclude, I would like to acknowledge the people who purchase the calendar every year, both at home and abroad and I thank you all sincerely for supporting this fund raising venture. I hope that you enjoy the production. – from Marie Twomey

Work is underway to open the newly renovated and refurbished Gym at the Youth Centre Premises in September 2015. Any suitably qualified person interested in managing the Gym is invited to contact Millstreet Community Concil Committee Member Maura Kiely at 087 948 8849. (S.R.)
Millstreet Community Council would like to announce that the Community Gym is now closed for refurbishment. With ongoing challenges to secure income to run the venture, we are very grateful for having been offered a sports grant which will assist in the upgrading of the premises and replacement of obsolete equipment in the Gym. In order to complete this work, it is clearly necessary to close the premises. We look forward to re-opening a new modernised and efficient enterprise at the very earliest opportunity. We thank you for your understanding and support in this matter.
Millstreet Community Council are holding a public meeting this Thursday evening the 1st December at 9.30pm in the Wallis Arms, re: proposals by the HSE to downgrade the ambulance service here in Millstreet. Please support.
