Sixth Class of 1968 at Scoil Mhuire, Millstreet B.N.S. Identified

Following a wonderful response to our “Radio Treasures”  interview on Tuesday’s programme on Cork Music Station with Brendan, Kieran and Mary Cronin of Carrigtwohill and formerly of Drishane Road, Millstreet we promised to share Brendan’s identification of the 1968 School Photo below.  Chris Twomey also assisted in the identification of the wonderful photo.

Sixteen TV dishes attached to the walls and chimney of our house, eighteen remote controls, a television in every room and we still complain about nothing on Television. 

This week on Where the road takes me, John Greene invites three guests  to talk about the blissful days of the one and two-channel era.

True Pictorial Gem from the Past – The Class of 1945

We extend sincere thanks to John Tarrant for very kindly permitting us to share this wonderfully historic photo of the Class of 1945 which John’s late Mum, Nora had not only preserved for decades but has so very carefully written all the names of those in this superb image on the back of the photograph.   This picture also appears in John’s splendid Millstreet Matters feature in this week’s “Corkman” (Thurs. 11th March 2021).   The amazing coincidence we note is that not only is Nora Tarrant (née Buckley)…4th from left in 2nd row… featured in the picture but so also is Peggy Kelleher (née O’Connell).…6th from left in back row – both of whom went to their Eternal Reward over the past week.  RIP.  There are many others thanks to Nora’s excellent captions whom I recognise in this precious photo of 1945 even though I was not born until 1951.   Renewed thanks to the Tarrant Family for sharing this true pictorial gem.  Tap on the image to enlarge.  (S.R.)

Recalling Wonderful Times in Millstreet

We thank Con Meade and Denis McSweeney for sharing this wonderful image of Coláiste Pádraig Students with Principal Garret Hickey taken at Millstreet Boys’ Secondary School in West End 1958.   We thank Denis O’Sullivan of Barnes in Southwest London for kindly providing us with the exact year of the historic photo and also for indicating names of some of the Students.  When we learn the names of All we shall share.  Click on the image to enlarge. Memories from Our 2009 Pictorial Archives of Millstreet Museum

We share a selection of images from 2009 recalling the Millstreet of some eight years ago. Please click on the images to enlarge.  Every Blessing and Joy throughout a very Bright and Healthy 2018…..And Heartfelt thanks to All who have been so wonderfully supportive during my Health Journey in 2017….It has been very greatly appreciated with the many wonderful Masses, valuable prayers, practical assistance and such an outpouring of sincere concern and so many expressions of love and support.  (Seán Radley.)

In 2009 the superb renovation of St. Patrick’s Church, Millstreet was taking place. We view from outside and inside.

During 2009 also a splendid extension was being added to Millstreet Presentation N.S.. We observe the roof being constructed and we also visit one of the very happy classrooms in 2009.
