It is today, Sunday 22nd March 2015 which marks the official opening at 1pm of Newmarket Pitch & Putt.  All are very welcome to attend.

Newmarket Pitch & Putt is a new state of the art course located on the grounds of James O’Keeffe Institute Newmarket, Cork which will open in early March. This course is a newly renovated 18 Hole Course on scenic surrounds, redesigned to USGA standards making it more challenging and interesting for families, groups & single players alike. It guarantees a thoroughly enjoyable experience for young & old. Membership is now open. Membership fees are as follows:

Single €100
Family €220
Couple €180
OAP €90
Under 16 €70
Student €80
Green Fees €8
Associate Membership €60

For those interested in experiencing Pitch & Putt for the first time prior to investing in clubs a hiring facility is also available where clubs are free with green fees & balls can be hired at €2 each. The facility will open from April – September: Monday- Sunday 8.00am-10.00pm October-March: Monday- Sunday 8.00am-7.30pm.

Historic Graves Surveying

IRD Duhallow is seeking to train communities in historic graveyard recording and publication. We are calling on all communities from the following areas to get involved because only with the help of volunteers will we be able to tell, record and publish local stories of people and place. If you can take a photograph you can learn the survey system. All training will take place from 9.30a.m. to 4p.m. Please look at the dates below and if you think you will be able to come along please give Mary Creedon a ring on 029 60633.

“People’s Debate” on TV3 Tonight Recorded in Charleville Park Hotel

The IRD Duhallow  Business Awards which hosted in conjunction with “The Corkman” newspaper hailed the  18  entrepreneurs from across the barony of Duhallow at a lavish function in the James O’Keeffe Institute, Newmarket last night. A brilliant night for Millstreet's K&L Deliveries on winning the Best Established Category in addition to securing the Overall Gong for Best Business 2014. For the Customer Service Category, Michael and Pam Thornton's Coolefield House emerged a popular winner. Well done to all Millstreet nominees on gaining selection for the prestigious awards ceremony that included K & L Deliveries, Coolefield House, Nibbles Food Emporium, Justin Photography and the Millstreet E Centre.

Millstreet Winners at the IRD Business Awards

Millstreet had two winners at the IRD Business Awards which were held in Newmarket last night. A huge congratulations to Mike & Pam Thornton Of Coolefield House B&B on winning the award for Best Customer Service, and to Gordon and Breeda O’Keeffe of K & L who won their award as the Best Established Business. Other finalists from Millstreet on the night were Eleanor Leahy of Nibbles who was also in the Best Customer Service category, Justin Black of Just Born Photography in the Creative Industry category, and the Millstreet E-Centre in the Community Enterprise category.

SAOI Network Videography Group at Wallis Arms Hotel

A very pleasant meal was enjoyed by the members of the SAOI Network Videography Group at the Wallis Arms Hotel on Thursday, 6th Nov. 2014.  The coordinators of the uplifting occasion - Mary O' Sullivan and Paddy Buckley - expressed delight at not only the very fine meal but with the many sharings of interesting and humorous stories related afterwards when Jack Roche shared his thoughts regarding the many benefits which resulted following the particpation of the Group in the two-year videography and film course organised by IRD Duhallow. Basic Sign Language Classes – IRD Duhallow

Basic Sign Language Classes

IRD Duhallow will hold Basic Sign Language Classes beginning on the 30th of September. The classes will run for two nights per week for 4 weeks and will cover such topics as: Vocabulary, Expressions, Family, Numbers, Hospital, Colours, Conversation, Fun Stories etc. The Sign Language Classes will empower and educate participants in the use of Sign Language thereby heightening awareness of those with disabilities in our community. Please note that there is a course fee of €55 per person to take part in this course. Upcoming: Guided Bog Walk

Commencing at 1pm the walk will include discussions about the flora and fauna of this wonderful habitat.

The event will be followed by light refreshments.

IRD Duhallow is a community-based Integrated Rural Development (IRD) company that was established in 1989. The company combines the efforts and resources of the State Bodies, Local Authorities, Local Communities and individual entrepreneurs for the benefit of the local areas. The main objective of IRD Duhallow is to establish and to support initiatives directed towards the generation of enterprise for the benefit and welfare of communities in Duhallow who may be deprived due to rural population, immigration, lack of training, economic deprivation or poor infrastructure.
