Cork City Council is proud to promote “The Cause” a new play by Seán O’Deadaigh, premiering in The Glen Theatre, Banteer, Co. Cork on 10th September 2021.
Written by Seán Ó Deadaigh and directed by Tadhg O’Keeffe, The Cause depicts the story around the capture of a Black and Tan officer by members of the Cork No. 1 Brigade, Irish Revolutionary Army Captain Seán O’Donoghue and Volunteer Jamesy O’Mahoney during one of the greatest single atrocities of Ireland’s War of Independence – The Burning of Cork.
The play will run from 10th to 12th September 2021, with more dates to be announced.

Multi award-winning Bluegrass artist Kristy Cox, and her band, will play The Glen Theatre in Banteer on May 12th.
Chart-toppin’ Nashville-based Kristy Cox is on quite the roll. Capturing attention with her powerful singing style, youthful energy-infused bluegrass, and song writing acumen, she continues to enjoy radio & television success in both the US and in her native Australia where she’s a multi award-winning Australian Country Music Awards Golden Guitar recipient – most recently she picked up the 2019 Golden Guitar for Bluegrass Album of the Year for early 2018’s Ricochet (see below). Kristy has appeared at major festivals across Australia, Europe and the US, including an official showcase at the International Bluegrass Music Association (IBMA) Convention in 2015; she was shortlisted by the IBMA 4 years running for New Artist of the Year and Female Vocalist of the Year. This is a hilariously funny fast paced comedy sure to have you in stitches! After two great shows at The Olympia Theatre Dublin and The Market Place Theatre Armagh City we return to Leeside to wrap up for the summer break, with plans for the autumn season well underway new members are welcome to join.
We thank Michael O’Leary and Elwood from Louisville, Kentucky, USA for the presentation of this truly magnificent book outlining in brilliant colour the history of the world famous race which takes place annually on the first Sat. in May – So this year it’s on Sat. 5th May 2018. This beautiful book plus a very fine Tee Shirt will be displayed in Millstreet Museum.
“Radio Treasures” this week is being broadcast on Thursday, 3rd May 2018 from 9:30 to 11:00 pm. We feature our usual mixture of cheerful songs, music and musings. And, of course, being the start of Summer (!) we include Canon Sydney McEwan’s “Bring Flowers of the Fairest” plus some special Showband Favourites. We hope also to feature the official launch recordings of Killarney’s “Nathan’s Walk” supporting Darkness into Light for Pieta House….This special item will be transmitted at 10pm. A case of mistaken caravan identity sends the Widows’ Paradise into disarray with the subsequent arrival of no nonsense Alpha-male Harry his dim-witted sidekick Ernie and Harry’s handsome young son Alan. Add a couple of surprise visitors in the form of Willie and Farmer John and you have what can only be described as hysterical chaos.
What was supposed to be a scene of peace and tranquillity turns into a riotous clash of the sexes, each of the ten characters with his/her own story to tell!.
