A Magnificent Five-in-a-Row for “Crossfields” Céilí Band

Pictured below is the superbly talented U18 Crossfields Céilí Band after their splendid win in Drogheda at the All-Ireland Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann on Sunday, 18th August 2019…Hugely thrilled!  🙂  Local members of this Band are Marie O’Neill, Darragh Twomey, Anna Buckley & Leah Murphy.  Our picture also includes Alan Finn, Coach supreme. More Local Fleadh Cheoil Success

Well done to all who participated in the recent Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann.  Congratulations to Eddie Kiely who won the O18 guitar accompaniment in Drogheda with Tadhg O’Sullivan Millstreet. Congratulations to Katie O’Sullivan Cullen U15 English Singing, and also to Diarmuid Cronin Rathcoole U18 Storytelling.
The CD celebrating 40 years of Millstreet Comhaltas 2019 for sale in Coleman’s, Wordsworth, Munster Fire and Safety, O’Leary Butchers and Herlihy’s Centra featuring local participants. All proceeds to Millstreet Comhaltas children learning traditional music.  Enrol next month, learn to play an instrument,  win new friends and join in the craic.

All Ireland Success for Siobhán, Darragh, Leah, Marie and Anna

Congratulations to Siobhán Ní Chróinín who won the Corn Stiofáin Uí hEalaoire for Scéalaíocht.  for Scéalíocht (15-18) in Drogheda last Sunday at Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann 2019 in Drogheda.

Also, congratulations to Darragh Twomey, Leah Murphy, Marie O’Neill, and Anna Buckley, who also won at the Fleach Cheoil, in the Ceili Band Competition (15-18) as part of the Crossfields Ceili Band.

All that on top of the Under 12 Set which finished second during the week, and Muireann O’Connor of Cullen won the Flute Slow Air Competition (U12) and the  Crossfield Ceili Band Under 12s also won the Ceili Band Competition.

A Fleadh to Remember for Leah

Leah Murphy from Laught had some weekend at the Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann in Drogheda. Firstly on Saturday she was part of the mighty Crossfield Ceili Band that won first place in the U18 Céili Band competition (Marie O’Neill, Anna Buckley, Darragh Twomey, Aubane, were also members of the band). Then on to Sunday, and with three solo competitions to play in, she got placed in all three!! 2nd place in Fiddle Slow Airs,  2nd place in English Singing, and 3rd place in Rogha Ghléas. Mighty going , we’re delighted and so proud  🎶 🎻 👍 😀 😀

Magnificent Prestigious All-Ireland Award for Diarmuid Cronin, Laught, Rathcoole

Sincere Congratulations to Diarmuid Cronin, Laught, Rathcoole who won the U18 Storytelling Competition at The All-Ireland Fleadh Cheoil at the weekend in Drogheda.  What a truly magnificent achievement by the wonderfully talented Diarmuid.  His late grandparents Diarmuid and Nora Creedon would have been so very proud of such a prestigious award for their grandson.  Click on the image to enlarge.  (S.R.)

Storyteller Supreme Diarmuid Cronin First at Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann 2017

Diarmuid Cronin of Laught, Rathcoole who achieved First Place in the recent All-Ireland Fleadh Cheoil Under-15 Storytelling Competition in Ennis, Co. Clare. Diarmuid’s late Grandparents – Diarmuid and Nora Creedon would have been so very proud of such an excellent achievement. Superb Local Successes at Fleadh Cheoil 2017 in Ennis

Anne Maria Lyons has kindly informed us of just some of the splendid success stories from this year’s Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann in Ennis over the weekend.  We also thank Anne Maria for the attached pictures taken in Ennis.  Patrick Buckley (pictured holding the winning cup on left) and Claire Lyons (pictured at centre front) were in the Under-15 Céilí Band who won the All-Ireland while Darragh Twomey was in the winning Under-18 Band.  Music Teacher Alan Finn is pictured in front.  We shall later feature the amazingly successful Shandrum Céilí Band who made history in winning the All-Ireland Senior Band Event for the Third TimeSincere congratulations to all the wonderfully talented musicians.  This also includes Katie O’Sullivan of Cullen winning in the Under-12 English Singing and Diarmuid Cronin of Laught, Rathcoole who won the Under-15 Story Telling Competition.  Click on the images to enlarge.  (S.R.) Patrick wins two All Ireland Gold Medals at the Fleadh Cheoil

Massive congratulations to Patrick O’Callaghan from Millstreet and the Kilcummin Dancers on their success at the Fleadh Cheoil in Ennis! Patrick won two All-Ireland gold titles this weekend, one in the u18 mixed-set and another gold All Ireland title in the u18 half-set. Shandrum Céilí Band Wins the All-Ireland for a Second Year

Millstreet’s Tadhg O’Sullivan has won yet another All-Ireland medal with the Shandrum Céilí Band, who won the Senior Band competition for the 2nd year in a row in Ennis on Sunday night – the standard of music was unbelievably high but the Shandrum were truly deserving of first place -The attached video is of their performance after their win at the gig rig which officially closed the Fleadh.  We thank Miriam O’Sullivan for this wonderful news and for sharing the video.  Sincere congratulations to Tadhg on such a hugely prestigious win – for the second year in a row!  (S.R.)

Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann champions 2015!! Congratulations to Patrick O’Callaghan from Millstreet who danced with Kilcummin at Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann in Sligo at the weekend, and achieved a Gold All Ireland medal in the under 18 mixed set. Patrick also achieved a silver All Ireland medal at the weekend in the half set under 18 competition. He also got gold medal last year in the under 18 Half Set.

Congratulations to Tadgh O’Sullivan, one of the tenor drummers with Millstreet Pipe Band, who became an All Ireland Champion with the Shandrum Ceilí Band (playing the concertina) who were crowned Senior champions in Sligo yesterday. They also gave a superb performance after their victory on TG4. See it on the TG4 Player, from 2:24:30 to 2:28:30. (In fact the whole three hours is a treat for anyone interested in Irish music song and dance)

A huge congratulations must go to James Linehan of Millstreet Comhaltas Branch, who has finished second in the U18 Bodhrán at Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann in Sligo yesterday (Saturday), and much praise must also go to the others from Sráid that competed today.

Grúpa Ceoil Fleadh Cheoil Winners

Tadhg O Sullivan, Killian Linehan, Sarah Dennehy, Darren Kiely & Daniel O Callaghan  memembers of Freemount Comhaltas with the U18 Groupa Ceoil  Cup.-1000Young musicians from Millstreet who are members of the Crossfields Céilí Band (Freemount Comhaltas) which won the U18 Grúpa Ceoil (Gerald Whelan Memorial Cup) at the All Ireland Fleadh Cheoil in Sligo yesterday. They are Tadhg O Sullivan, Killian Linehan, Sarah Dennehy, Darren Kiely & Daniel O Callaghan. Tadhg, Darren, & Daniel were also part of the 15 – 18 Ceili Band that finished 2nd.

Maggie wins at the Fleadh Cheoil

2014-08-16 Maggie Moynihan won the U12 Singing at Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann in Sligo - with her tutor Annmarie O'RiordanA huge congratulations to Maggie Moynihan, Cullen won the Comhaltas Singing competition for children under 12yrs at Fleadh Cheoil Sligo 2014 over the weekend.

Maggie’s singing tutor is the very well known and superbly talented Annmarie O’Riordan from Rathcoole.

No doubt the start of many successes for both of them !!!

Great Success for Leah in All-Ireland Fleadh Cheoil

Leah who represented munster in the All Ireland Fleadh Cheoil in Derry on august 17th last. She did her County and Provence proud by achieving 2nd place in the under12 English Singing competition.
