In Pictures: Last Day of the European Championships

In Pictures: Dressage and Cross Country at the European Championships

At the 2017 FEI European Junior and Young Rider Championships, Dressage took centre stage on thursday. While Thursday was a fine day, Friday had shocking weather, so some had to compete in the downpours. Thankfully the rain cleared Friday night, and the sun shone for Saturday’s Cross Country in Drishane, with the rain helping to make ground conditions excellent. There were a number of fallers, but no serious injuries, only bumps and bruises.

below are some photos and videos from the last few days, but be patient as it may be slow to load due to so many photos: [read more …] “In Pictures: Dressage and Cross Country at the European Championships”

In Pictures: The Parade of Nations through Millstreet

After Wednesday morning’s rain, Noel C. got onto the man above and asked for sunshine for the evening, and as is normal he duly obliged. Just in time, the clouds parted and suddenly we had a lovely sunny evening for what has now become a tradition – the Parade of Nations through Millstreet, bringing a slice of colour and fun to town.

Led by the Millstreet Pipe Band the sixteen nations dressed in their finery and national colours, paraded up through the town, and back down to the Green Glens where the official opening of the Championships took place, followed by a concert and entertainment.

A big bualadh bos to all that helped organise, and participated in what was another lovely event.

Horse Inspections and the Big Parade this evening

Today is a day of horse inspections, walking the courses, and final preperations before the action start in earnest at the 2017 FEI European Championships J&YR tomorrow
Don’t forget the big parade through town at 6:30pm this evening. The rain is due to have passed off at that stage for what will hopefully be another big bright and colourful occasion.
